"homebrew"
and passive-aggressive "quotes" like this are exactly where the rift came from initially with Kosmos. if you had a better attitude, you could have repaired that relationship

it IS homebrew. block awoo if you're oh-so-worried about installers for legal backups and homebrew nsps

Like the other comments no sigpatch = suck
we need bundle with full friendly easy use package for noob user
Not just fake bullshit attitude anti piracy thing
I believe you aren't entitled to anything that allows you to easily pirate. This package has everything you need, if you need to pirate, then you can simply search for the necessary things to allow you to do that. Or, build something yourself. You're getting things for free, including this content and game developers' content. So at least work for it

These guys are nice and generous enough to have done 99% of the hard work for you, for free, and yet you’re unwilling to do the other 1% with a simple google?

Not everyone condones piracy; you don’t have to agree but at the very least you could respect someone else’s choices.

I think the thing everyone is trying to say but are too uncaring to explain in a polite/proper manner is that this isn't really an "AIO" for all but an "AIO" for all that strictly want to use homebrew.

Can you offer a version WITH sigpatches just so everyone can be satisfied? I understand this wasn't made to please everyone but it would be "easier" in a sense lol

I deal with these people on the regular I use to sell hacked switchs soon as a update came out and ppl updated by mistake omg how fucking lazy and stupid they would become I legit helped them out of my good kindness but ppl can be really lazy and stupid even with a easy install one zip package they’d still run into issues

People seem to be getting zealously defensive whenever sig-patches or tinfoil are mentioned. The point holds though that the majority who need an aio installer are those that also need 'everything working' out the box, it's kind of the point. And whichever side of the moral spectrum you fall on, that includes piracy.

There's no point going all keyboard justice warrior just because people point out a fact. Nobody needs an aio installer who are purely into homebrew, or have the know-how to fix up sigpatches. They will just setup Atmosphere themselves and cut out the middleman bloat.

Since we are pretty new, we used what kosmos gave us. There is nothing written in stone and we are discussing different booting method aswell as including patches all the time. Please dont just throw hate at us for not using someones preferred method of booting or beeing against piracy.

Its hard for us to find the right balance between staying on the legal side and not getting in bad terms with SciresM, aswell as cover the (sadly) majority of people who also want to pirate. Dont get us wrong - we still dislike Blawar and his practices, aswell as the whole community behind it because its the reason for so much toxicity in this scene.

Anyway, we are still trying to figure out where we want to be and what we want to stand for. Nothing is written in stone and if someone has good arguments for either side, i/we will listen to them no matter the person its coming from (as long as its not just fss0 is bad/hacky cause someone said so and so on).

Can't we all just like, co-exist?

Thanks for this, I probably won't use it yet since I'm at a level that I do not understand the differences of one from the other, or if I need this more than others. But from someone who has not much technical knowledge of the scene and mostly just waits until something pops up, again, I appreciate it.

I know I shouldn't pry onto topics I barely understand, but surely there's a less "toxic" way of getting our ideas across, yes? I mean yeah a healthy argument is good, but if it's repetitive and never ends, can't we just agree that we disagree, or however that saying goes. I have nearly no contribution to the scene, I know I'm not at level where anyone should listen, but can't we all just be mates?
I wouldn't want a future where communities like these cease to exist.

So far this looks neat!
I'll for sure give it a try.

Just a question, are you guys going to leave sigpatches out of the package?
Or are you planning on including them too?

deepsea aio package is also not include sigpatch such as KMS's, you can download hekate patch and es patch in HarukoNX's github page.

Just a bunch of different CFW bundle packs, Kosmos was the only one that really got famous with all the other people attemptted sharing.

but kosmos is stop updating. hope team neptune can pick up the torch on road.

The Kosmos Updater worked fine with Incognito, as does any other homebrew I've tried with an internet connection. It should be possible to make DeepSea also work with Incognito.
The Switch libcurl library used by some homebrew apps now requires the ssl certificate to be intact, which incognito destroys.
Other homebrew apps will have the same issue as they get updated and use the new lib.

Ahh didn't know that, thanks for the heads up. I'll go back to 90DNS.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
