Serial number is the big one. Other than that it’s just like buying a used car. Scratches can be buffed out, you can replace consumables (joycons etc). Cracked screens aren’t good but that can be replaced too. Having a warranty is kinda crazy…where did you land this deal?

i was buying it from a uk store..
is V1 enough for a soft mod or you have to get the serial number .

Even when they say V1 you should confirm the serial number. It’s best to get it from the Settings page if you can because shells can be swapped out.

Plug the serial number into this web page and see if it’s hackable.

downloaded files onto mciro sd card. formatted in fat 32
hekate, atmosphere, sig patches.
do i have to completely shut down the console and then insert the jig and put the usb c cable into pc .
the RCM recognises the switch and i choose hekate bin and inject it.
it injects the payload but the switch screen goes scrambled .
what am i doing wrong.

Please please please create an emmc backup via hekate before even launching the cfw.

As for the scrambled screen, power it off and try again

i am backing up the eMMC RAW GPP now..
i have left the jig in while backing up . the usb is also connected to the pc and switch
is that ok

Don't need the jig when you load up hekate or atmosphere. You can remove it from the right joycon rail

i have missed the emummc.txt for the hosts folder in Atmosphere..
the injuecting hekate is a pain ,,is there anything to do to make it on the sd card so i dont have to put the jig in and use the pc to load hekate every time ..
now to backup my 3 games which i have got ..

now how to copy my games to sd card of switch

you wont be able to cold boot payloads from sd card, so your either gonna need an android phone, dongle, or a pc when you full boot off. as for game install go back to the guide and look at misc tuts. read up and be informed as much as you can

Totally agree with Binki, even in the Sthetix' videos it may seem easy, but it is done under a good magnification, and I wouldn't even consider performing this work without a microscope.

You can by doing the following:

1) on OLED, you will use Nintendo Cloud save to store your game saves.

2) assuming you followed the guide posted above your V1 will have a Sysnand (clean) and Emunand (dirty). Use your 100% clean Sysnand and also use Nintendo Cloud save to duplicate game saves to V1

3) boot your V1 into Hekate and mount yourmSysnand on your PC and extract your game saves (follow this guide on how to do that) https://gbatemp.net/threads/recovering-games-saves-from-nand-using-nxnandmanager-and-jksv.620758/

4) After you export the game saves, copy them to your SDCard and instead of restoring to Sysnand, boot your Switch into CFW/Emunand and use JKSV to restore the saves to your hacked Switch.

this needs to be an exosphere.ini file (not a directory)

you might want to use something like notepad++ to ensure that you don't create a file called exosphere.ini.txt

No folder. Delete the folder. Replace the folder with a new file called exosphere.ini

You can use MTP if it's enabled, or use Hekate's USB mount or just throw the card in your PC. Whatever you want to do, man. :-)

Make sure you have the /atmosphere/hosts/default.txt file that's called for in the instructions as well.

You can tell that exosphere is working by looking at your serial number in Settings. If it is all 0000s then you're good and you will not be able to connect to Ninty.

To check that dns:mitm is working you can use 90DNSTester.
