Hello everyone! I hacked my switch about 1.5 weeks ago, so my knowledge is pretty limited. I have two questions:

1: I am using a 64gb card, but plan on buying a 128gb one. Can I just copy and paste the contents from the one I am using to the new one?

2: Does restarting the console make you leave cfw? Because to change the system language I need to restart it, and I lost my jig.
1. If you aren't using an emuNAND, yes. Make sure the new SD card is FAT32 before copying your files to it, especially if you don't have the exFAT support update installed.
2. If you're using Atmosphere as your CFW, rebooting will reboot you back into Atmosphere. If you power off and power back on, you will exit Atmosphere.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I’m in the same boat and need to update my firmware, I’m running SX OS. Can I remove my SD card and boot into normal firmware and update that way or do I have to use ChoiDujourNX within CFW?

Many thanks in advance!
Either method will work. Use ChoiDujourNX if you want to install AutoRCM and prevent fuses from being burnt.

Thank you!

Am I correct in thinking if I do update the main system FW and burn fuses will that mean my system backup will be no good? Do I need to stay on the same firmware as the backup on the main system. I’m using emuNAND so think I’ll just update that.

Many Thanks

Hi all,

I'm new here and I don't know what to do:cry:.

I have my EmuMMC upgraded to Firmware 9.0.1
and installed the latest Kosmos/sigpatches.

Unfortunately I can't play all my nsp/xci games. When I install it with Goldleaf (0.7.3) it works,
but when I click on the software it says "Could not start the software. Please try again from the HOME menu".
Before the upgrade FW 8.1.0 and atmosphere 0.9.4. Everything works fine.

I already format my SD card and put a clean atmosphere/sig patches/hekate/kosmos etc.
But unfortunately it is still not working.

Normaly I install the nsp/xci by Tinfoil. But Tinfoil (5.1.0) don't work for now.

Hopefully someone could help me.

Thanks

SysNand: [ 8.1.0 ]
EmuNand: [9.0.1, Atmosphere 0.94 ]
Goldleaf version: [0.7.3 ]
Kosmos_patches_10_09_2019
Sigpatchs from this thread
---

I've got it working.

I checked the corrupted data in the Switch and delete 1 software.
And reinstalled it and now all my games works.

You can restore an old backup after updating, which will downgrade the system. However, if your fuses are burnt, you will have to use a custom bootloader like Hekate or fusee-primary on order to be able to boot the system, at least until you update the system.

Hello,

Everytime I want to hack one of my systems I come here and end up completely lost. Thisk time is no different.

I've read a bunch of guides and FAQ but they all sound... Gibberish to me. I do know my way around things, I've hacked several different 3DS and Vitas...

Usually I use a guide which provide all links and stuff. Could anybody give me a link to a reliable recent guide please?

I have a Day one Switch + one of these plastic things to put in the right rail for the pins.

Will I be able to install a CFW for good, kind of forget about it (except for wild updates) like on 3DS/Wii/Wii U/Vita/PS3/etc? As in it directly boots to the CFW and I can download stuff I want?

Thank you!

Well I don't use ReiNX anymore, but the error seems fairly straightforward. Your consoles FW might be too low, which makes sense considering you're saying it happens with newer games.

Which games exactly and what FW version are you on?

You cannot install CFW on the Switch. In fact, I'm not sure of any consoles that allow for installation of CFW. Back to the Switch, the current exploit is a tethered coldboot meaning the exploit is launched on coldboot but the exploit is tethered via USB. To keep it short, a payload has to be sent while the console is in RCM. If you want a link to a guide, I recommend this one.

Having this issue with Dragon Quest 11S..

Ive deleted the game, reinstalled, installed the game via NSP, XCI, off the Homebrew shop, completely replaced my Atmosphere.. Made sure the update file is latest.. However this error comes up randomly either while starting up the game or like 20 mins into game play.. Help? It's the only game that does this, every other game works fine? I've even reformatted the micro sd. (fat32)
And the micro sd is official and I've also tried the h2testw, and it's a perfectly working card.

It's the only game that has this issue.
And when I do a corrupt data search it comes up saying no corrupt data found.
Anyone know how to help?
Just wanna play the game lol

OFW: 9.0.0
CFW: Atmosphere (Latest w/ Sigpatches)

Anyone else experiencing the missing “set archive bit” button in Nx-Shell? On my older switch (7.0.1, AMS 0.9.3) I still have that option but on my new switch (8.0.1, AMS 0.9.4) it’s missing.

Edit: I totally forgot to set developer options.

Hi, I am on 8.1.0 fw with renix, I'm trying to switch to atmosphere (kosmos). removed all renix files off the sd card and put the kosmos v14.2 on. I'm using a ns-atmosphere payload injector. now when I try to inject a payload it does nothing, the light does not change from blue to pink like it does when its injecting the payload, and the screen stays black. I tried putting all the original renix files back on the sd card and the payload back on the injector and it does the same, nothing stays black no pink light. any one any ideas what is happening? i think it must have something to do with auto rcm, but I cant tell if im in autorcm through tegragui as im on mac osx.

Hey, I am interested in buying a nintendo switch but I was wondering if it is possible to jailbreak the new refresh version of the Switch or if I would have to search for an old model.

You can only hack the following Switch systems:
  1. Unpatched systems (check the serial number before buying)
  2. ipatched systems on 4.1.0 that have never connected to the internet
It could be a very long time, if ever, before other Switch systems are hackable. Unpatched systems are highly recommended, since they're permanently hackable.

I recommend the following steps, as a matter of troubleshooting:
  1. Make a NAND backup with Hekate if you haven't already. Store it somewhere safe.
  2. Remove all CFW files/folders from your SD card (that would be folders like /sept/ and /atmosphere/)
  3. Download the latest Atmosphere from github (currently 0.9.4)
  4. Download the latest fusee-primary (next to Atmosphere)
  5. Download these signature patches
  6. Put Atmosphere and the signature patches onto your SD card
  7. Put the SD into your Switch
  8. Launch Atmosphere using fusee-primary

Yes, you can update to 9.0.1 using ChoiDujourNX. If you don't want to burn fuses, make sure you leave the AutoRCM install option checked. If you don't want AutoRCM installed and you don't care about burning fuses, make sure you uncheck that option.

Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
