Unpatched in this case means?
Unpatched means it is old enough to be susceptible to the RCM exploit. If your Switch is unpatched, it can never be patched and is forever exploitable by the RCM exploit. This is the kind of Switch you want.Unpatched in this case means?
Ok then, I got my Switch in late 2017 FYI.Unpatched means it is old enough to be susceptible to the RCM exploit. If your Switch is unpatched, it can never be patched and is forever exploitable by the RCM exploit. This is the kind of Switch you want.
If the Switch was purchased before July 2018, it's certainly unpatched and forever vulnerable to the RCM exploit. That means your only limitation is making sure CFW is compatible with future updates. As of this post, Atmosphere and other custom firmwares are compatible with 1.0.0-8.0.1. In a few days or so, Atmosphere will be updated to support 8.1.0. After that, other custom firmwares will also add support for 8.1.0.Ok then, I got my Switch in late 2017 FYI.
Hahaah what a noob!
If I have auto rcm on how do i boot into CFW ? is it just power on? or do I need to hold any buttons? When i hold power nothing hapens so I assume it goes into RCM.
AutoRCM, as the name implies, automatically boots you into RCM. RCM is the mode where you send a payload. If you don't send a payload, it will simply stay in RCM until you turn it off or send a payload.Hahaah what a noob!

What you might be thinking of is that Deja Vu, a warmboot browser exploit, was completely patched out in firmware 8.0. This is not a concern for unpatched units because Fusee Gelee works on all firmware versions but patched units so far can only utilize Deja Vu as a means for CFW meaning they can not update past 7.1 if they wish to hack their consoles.been waiting for atmos emuMMC nand to add cfw for my Switch (1st batch) which is unpatched, will still wait for the next update for them to iron out the kinks but wanted to know
I still have it on 6.2 because I remember Scires had said something might be possible up to that but I can't remember if that was for patched systems to worry about or (does firmware matter on unpatched or do fuses still play a role when or if downgrading may be possible or needed?)
has anyone played online with OFW with the atmos dual configure setup and gotten banned yet?
also once you start the CFW process do all your game saves get wiped? (Zelda ) or are they safe on the stock OFW but on the CFW they don't appear? I understand you can back them up but some game saves I want them official so I can send it to hopefully to the new Switch when that comes out
Technically, there is a way to boot up CFW without sending a payload but that currently only works up to firmware 3.0. Otherwise, you can send payloads with your phone, external dongle, or internal modchip. As mentioned in my above reply, AutoRCM simply boots your console automatically into RCM removing the need for a jig. You will always need to send a payload with or without AutoRCM.Is there a way to boot into cfw without the need of injecting a payload? Or how do you do it on the move? Ive seen dongles you can buy. Is there another way? How are people playing backups on the move?
Or do people use auto rcm? is this why I still need to use my pc to inject the payload in order to get into cfw? As it doesnt boot otherwise.
You need to enter maintenance mode which is done by holding volume + and - when turning the console on. Once you see the maintenance mode menu, simply exit or turn off your console. Make sure the Wi-Fi settings are deleted before you boot into maintenance mode otherwise the system update will be downloaded again. My hacked Switch is on 6.0 and I had afaik had set the filters so things from Nintendo servers wouldn't download but I visited an old wifi network I was on and the update downloaded so now it's telling me that an update is ready to be installed, I still can play games but it's saying this everytime I launch a game or wake the Switch.
What would be the best way to either remove the update or install it without losing the hack on on my Switch?
emuEMMC is just a copy of your sysEMMC.if I create an emuNAND, do I need to install all the games in my sd card all over again?

No one seems to have been banned yet but most people have been using Atmosphere online and have somehow avoided a ban without the need for emuEMMC.
And CFW doesn't do anything to the save files unless you do it yourself.

That's a personal decision. If you have a reliable way of entering RCM, then you don't really need AutoRCM. But if you don't and don't want to waste time trying to manually enter RCM, then AutoRCM is pretty useful. I only have a paperclip and refuse to buy a jig when AutoRCM is free.Thank you for that, sorry about the obvious noob nature of my questions. I think that issue I was actually having was that the battery had drained whilst in auto rcm, and so I coukld not power it on. Nor charge it. So ive managed to get it going now by injecting and then swapping out the cable to charge.
DO you think its best to keep auto rcm off?
Either or is fine although most people with unpatched units prefer to keep their SysNAND clean while relegating all CFW/homebrew to EmuNAND. There is no right or wrong answer here. People who say never to go online with EmuNAND do not understand that Atmosphere's implementation has a safe way of going online as opposed to SX OS which does not.I want to play SMM2. What will be the best way? My switch on fuse count of OFW 4.1.
Should I use go online and connect to Nintendo online using clean emuMMC or clean sysnand?
If I have to use sysnand. Will it be safe to have bare atmosphere (saving fuse count) or will this lead to a ban?
Same question for emuMMC? Is it safeit be safe to go online with emummc (with bare atmosphere)? So I could keep my sysnand at low firmware (use there homebrew, cheats and never go online) and emummc for Nintendo online?
Yes although you will either have to track down pre-made .NSP files for those homebrew applications or make your own with the tool nro2nsp.is it possible to install certain Homebrew applications like the Theme installer, goldleaf, NXshell, and the appstore to your switch home screen as an .nsp file? I ask because on the 3ds it's possible to install brew as .cias and have them appear as apps on the home menu.
any chance to transfer a zelda botw savegame from hacked wiiu to hacked switch? i guess not right ?
oh...my...god. if this works ill be the happiest dude out there . thank you! ill check it out!https://gbatemp.net/threads/botw-save-converter-switch-wii-u.499483/
You can try this, both have to have the same update version.
Why did you switch from ReiNX to Kosmos? Just switch back to ReiNX as it can do everything Kosmos can do but with less steps and files.
