So I am going to ask again and I know I am just beating a dead horse but, Will the addition of the NSP installer on SX OS 1.4 allow us a safe way to update our XCI files? I only ask because Dev menu did this but wasn't too safe. I have a game that keeps freezing so I think it needs an update.

Safer? I would say so. 100% safe? We cannot say just yet. In the long run, we might hypothetically get a tool that can remove traces of hacking outside of restoring a NAND dump made prior to hacking so if you don't want to risk getting banned, you can stay offline. But normal console bans don't limit your ability to update games so unless you do some freaky CDN downloading with your own console's certificate, you will probably not encounter the superban.

@Draxzelex So do I just follow the update steps like the Dev Menu ones as in load the update on sd and then just install via the installer or are there other steps

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Also what are everyones thoughts on the safety of NXShop?

Hey, I've got another question:

Is there any way to use the eshop to install games, without updating the console? I already got a copy of Puyo Puyo Tetris on my account, but I do not want to pay again for it, just so I can play it lol. Thanks a ton!

Load the update .NSPs on the root of your SD card. Unlike DevMenu, their installer won't detect them inside a folder. Then just proceed like you would any other .NSP

And my opinion of NXShop is that its a got a good chance of getting you banned as well as superbanned since it downloads content straight from Nintendo's servers. Even if its not your own certificate your using, Nintendo can remove all CDN access to that certificate should they have reason to do so.

Find the .NSP of Puyo-Puyo online then install it with this: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tinfoil-title-installer-manager-by-adubbz.511763/

Alternatively, you can use eXhop to download it for you from Nintendo's eShop. Be wary though as this using this tool can get you banned, even from the eShop if used inappropriately enough times.

Anyone know how to block every Nintendo website so my switch has no interaction with Nintendo servers, but retains access to every other site? I want to use the Homebrew App Store and maybe play some of the Jackbox games (I think it only communicates with the Jackbox servers)

What does MicroSD compatible with Hekate and other Preloaders recommend me?
I'm having trouble understanding your question. All I could find in regards to compatibility was this:
CTCaer said:
CTCaer mod is based on naehrwert's hekate - ipl. hekate is basically a custom Nintendo Switch bootloader with many advanced features.
It supports all sd cards (except SDSC) and automatically chooses if it will dump in parts or not, based on your free space and sd card filesystem.
any advice on where to download updates and dlc or is that info not allowed to be shared

As a noob I don't understand how to do this. All links for the needed software just send me to github with a bunch of dev stuff. There is a list of files and that is it, not sure which ones are needed and there is no zip file with everything needed in it. Do you just save each separate file that is listed there or what?

That would involve converting the update on the cart into a .NSP because loading a .XCI with the update will fail to update (it will say something like insert cartridge). Anyways, until we get a proper .NSP converter, you could ignore certain parts of the updating without burning fuses guide if you know which steps do what. You could also use the offline exFAT update guide to do it too since it installs a firmware update and the exFAT update simultaneously.

Thanks @Draxzelex

As the console has never been online I was hoping I could just insert a legit cart with 4.1.0 (i.e Crash Remaster) and it would just use the on cart OFW to update my Switch without going higher. Is this not the case?

Be more specific. Which GitHub pages are you referring to? And usually there's a tab titled Releases that have compiled versions if the creator made one.

What I've heard from SX OS users is that it doesn't work. Otherwise, no one would be following the guide on how to update without burning fuses.

I'm not planning on using SX OS or any other exploit. I just want to update 4.0.1 to 4.1.0 legitimately without going higher.

Can i still connect more than one controller in tabletop mode? Example: Original pair of joy cons and a pro controller. And if i use SX Pro for piracy, will i be able to connect more than one controller? I want to be able to play with friends without a Switch when i get it.

Got a question if someone can help. Currently on Sys FW: 4.1 on SX OS 1.4 and I installed Mario Kart 8 game update via .nsp. Now when I launch the game, it's asking to update the system software (https://www.dropbox.com/s/m3fcaeov6yscqm9/mk8.jpg?dl=0). I installed blazblue game update as well and it's asking me to update the system software as well. Is this normal when installing game update through nsp or is this update going to update my System FW to 5.xx? Is it a good idea the system firmware using a backup .xci file?

planning to buy a switch soon but i have seen several articles that said that nintendo are planning to roll out new hardware that are more "hack-resistant". are those released now? or are all of the switches for sale right now still hackable

I succesfully followed the update without fuses burned guide, and now have a RCM only 5.1.0 Switch. With autorcm i can no longer turn off the switch, no? (i mean i even tried doing it from hakate but each time i check the battery it has drained)
