Apologies if this is obvious/already been asked, but if I were to simply use a save editor for something such as Xenoblade or Breath of the Wild, is there a high likelihood of getting banned?
Don't really feel like spending money on buying a new switch just to play online again. I just want to skip the grind for some games.
Any and all unauthorized modifications to your system can warrant a ban, even for something as simple as dumping a save. Will everyone get banned for having dumped their saves? Probably not but the risk is always there.
Wait.

"Tethered Coldboot?"

So I'll STILL have to activate the RCM exploit to activate CFW? Or will I never have to activate the exploit again?

It will have to be repeated every time the Switch is turned off. There are unreleased software-based warmboot exploits that work up to 4.1 however their release window is vague. If you're willing to keep your Switch in sleep mode all the time, then you never have to do the RCM exploit ever again (unless it happens to run out of battery).

OK. New question.

So, I read you can Trigger RCM with an Android Device and a custom app. Anything else I need?

What's the best way to FTP into the Switch? I've tried connecting with the ftp app and my Android (Solid Explorer) and have been unsuccessful connecting to the Switch. Whats the best method to FTP to a Switch on 5.0.2?

It can but the problem is the moment the Switch connects with the Internet again, the super update nag will return. You can try DNS blocking here, but I don't know if blocking those DNS will also prevent you from transferring your Nintendo ID.

I've tried DNS blocking and that doesn't work. Do I have to do any permanent modifications to my Switch to use Gag Order? I'm trying to hold off on anything too permanent till the warranty ends. If it isn't, how would I go about using it? I don't understand most of the terms on it.

Thank you!

So I got a 2.1.0 Firmware switch. So far, I have pegaswitch, But i heard about a method of being able to load the HBL through android, I was wondering if the method would work on that firmware, I havent really been able to find any information whether it works or not.

This is so far the only FTP tool for the Switch: https://github.com/WinterMute/ftpd/releases/tag/v2.2.0-c58e527c-switch There have been some issues reported with 5.0.2 that involve downloading so if you run into any, don't be too surprised.

To use Gag Order, you will have to enter RCM on your Switch which will involve shorting pin 10 on the right-hand Switch rail then sending a payload.bin via the USB port on the Switch. Shorting pin 10 means connecting it to something grounded such as pin 1 with a piece of metal. From there, it will load you into a CFW that will allow you to go into the homebrew menu to launch Gag Order. This entire hack is lost upon turning the Switch off so it doesn't make any permanent modifications to your Switch. However, Gag Order does not always run properly so it will create error reports that Nintendo may eventually see and decide to ban you (this is speaking purely hypothetically because we only have one confirmed case out of thousands so chances are low for a ban but still).
When Tethered Coldboot releases on June 15th, will it be safe to update?

Firstly, the tethered coldboot is already out and it is called Fusee Gelee. I believe you are referring to the CFW, Atmosphere. If not, feel free to correct me or request further clarification. As of right now, the latest system update doesn't seem to produce any problems with Atmosphere. Of course, this is under the assumption that Nintendo won't produce any more system updates between now and Atmosphere's release. Not to mention that when you refer to updating, it will be in reference to EmuNAND as SysNAND should no longer be updated once EmuNAND is working.

Yes, it's an app called NXLoader. However, we lack a concise guide that uses NXLoader. Follow this tutorial here. The part where it mentions TegraSmash is instead replaced with NXLoader. When you Google NXLoader, it should bring you to the GitHub page that will give you full instructions on how NXLoader is used. When you get to the part where it mentions to download Hekate for 4.x or 5.x, you will use this version of Hekate that supports all firmwares.

Yes, Atmosphere.

Also, will I need to trigger the exploit everytime to activate Atmosphere?

So far, yes because it is the only exploit capable of launching Atmosphere. There are also unreleased software-based exploits that work up to 4.1 that can also do the job, but their release window is a bit vague. The one for 2.0-3.0 may be released at the same time as Atmosphere as it appears to have already been patched out. The one for 3.01-4.1 may not be released at the same time as Atmosphere because they have not tested whether or not it has been patched in 5.X. After Atmosphere's release, they will most likely begin testing to see if that exploit still works on 5.X or not. If it doesn't, they will probably release the exploit because they have no fear of it being patched out if Nintendo has already patched it out. If it does still work on 5.X, there is no telling when they will release it since exploits are typically released after they have been patched or they know the company is working on patching it.

Is it normal that i have no sound on any emulator?

Edit: Only with headphones plugged in i have sound.

Just to clarify, the .bin on the post and the link to the hekate versions on there i ignore right?
Because, there are some files notibly missing from the other version of hekate to those, i just figured to ask just to make sure i dont fuck up anything

The reason I linked you to the tutorial is because its the only concise guide we have on how to install the homebrew launcher. However, that tutorial uses outdated Hekate builds that don't support other firmwares as well as other bugs. The hekate I linked you to use only contains the .bin file needed to load hekate on 2.x. So to answer your question, yes...I think? Sorry, the pronouns are confusing me.

Hey im thinking about buying a Switch, how long untill it will be hacked so i can play the new Pokemon Go Pikachu game?

As of right now, the only confirmed way to play that game using hacks would be with TX's modchip. Atmosphere may or may not have implemented backup launching by the time this game comes out.

Thank you for taking the time to answer all these noob questions! You're a great help. The easiest way to enter RCM for someone who has no idea how to solder is probably TX's product that's releasing in the next month then?

but i thought saves (which are user generated) we're safe (Same as ram in game and why Galoob couldn't get sued for Game Genie) unless the IP laws changed which could be correct

They are using a jig, similar to what most other users are currently using. Jig quality depends on whoever is printing the jig and assembling the wire within it. I don't know if TX necessarily has the best way of entering RCM with their jig, but any jig from a trusted source would be the best way of entering RCM. Also, you're welcome for all of the help :)

Being banned from Nintendo's servers is due to violating their Terms of Service not breaking a law. If Nintendo found out you broke a law, you would get arrested. If Nintendo found out you didn't break the law but violated their Terms of Service, they still reserve the right to restrict your access to their content.
