I deleted an installed game and tried to reinstall and got error message "install failed"
If it installed the first time and is not installing the second time, the SD card is either fake or simply does not have enough room. Remember that you need double the space of an .NSP to install it.
Thanks. I saw a thread recently that I can't seem to find now, but I thought I saw that 4.1.0 and the current FW have the same # of burned fuses? Is that correct?
No, 4.X firmwares have 5 fuses burnt while 5.X firmwares have 6.
i added later win 7 64 bit, sorry. But i cant find any info that a certain version might be neccessary
Even though I myself highly doubt its patched, follow this guide so we know for sure where the problem might lie: https://gbatemp.net/threads/a-defin...atched-or-not-purchases-after-07-2018.512018/
I have 2 sc cards, one 16gb the other 128gb (128 is formatted exfat). The 16gb boots into homebrew but the 128gb doesn't. This isn't related to exfat support?
The Switch does not support exFAT out of the box. It needs the exFAT update in order to read exFAT formatted SD cards. If the 128 GB SD card is exFAT formatted and is inserted, but you don't see a prompt to download the exFAT update, it sounds like the card is fake.

I do get a prompt to update, but I declined because I thought it would update my firmware as well. Can I perform this update and not worry about it updating firmware?

Oh yeah, it will update your firmware so don't press it if you want to stay on 4.1. You can follow the link I posted above to get exFAT offline or you can follow this guide on how to get exFAT support and be on 5.1 offline simultaneously.

I already did this, as you said. And it stops right before the "Smashing the stack!". It just doesnt reach this point, it stands still. Nothing happens.

My switch is on firmware 3.0. I used to think that was the way to go but I cant really do much. Some things I wish I could do is play and backup my mario odyssey cart and play it and be able to have an an card that I can format to exfat. I wouldn't want to go to the newest firmware but 4.0 seems to be the sweet spot. Any one know how to load a specific or custom firmware? Thank you.

Are your USB ports 2.0?

This guide will get you to 4.0 with exFAT support built in: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...nofficially-without-burning-any-fuses.507461/

I have:
3.0.0 New Switch. 4.1.0 Update Cart.
I would like to play my game by installing the NSP.

From what I gather I need to:
Prep SD card with tumGER/SDFilesSwitch files.
Prep SD with Hulu/Devmenu files.
Prep Payload with Hetake(sigpatch+Layer).bin

Send payload, install Hulu, run devmenu. This is correct?

On both PCs there are USB 2. and 3 ports available. Same effect.
Let's change gears. Do you have anything else to send payloads with?

None of the Hekate builds that are posted on this forum will work so I assume you are using the ones that can be found outside of this site. Otherwise, yes it will work.

I don't know if it will work to be honest, but I think you should use the one that can be found after reading through this thread just to be safe (note there are no direct links within the OP):

Thank you, That was the first thread I found. I am learning this all from scratch (I am a Wii-WiiU-3ds modder)

So I will use that Hetake, Layered FS, boot Devmenu, install NSP.

Then use the Sig Patched Rei? Thats where Im lost.

Include kip1patch=nosigchk in the Hetake.ini?

Whats the diff between Oldlayered? Layered?

There's no reason to use ReiNX Hekate plus the leaked sig patches as they have the same sig patches but ReiNX has less features overall. New LayeredFS I believe prevents backups from being launched as it was primarily meant for modding.

Ok guys I'm a bit confused. So I went ahead and used TegRcmGUI to inject Hekate CTCaer and booted the homebrew launcher. At this point is there any CFW code saved to the internal memory? Isn't everything saved to the sd card?

Yes so unless you made a backup of your NAND, there are traces of you booting the homebrew launcher stored in your console. There is also the possibility that some of it that information was stored on the SD card, but we have no evidence to support such a thing.

Ok good to know. I did do a full backup (boot 0/boot 1 and rawnand). So even a restore won't eliminate the potential for a ban, correct?

I would say it has the highest success rate at preventing a ban moreso than anything else outside of EmuNAND. At the very least, chances are so low, it can be considered 0%.
