Hey guys, this is my first post and I believe I'm in the right spot, anyways, I recently got into the whole saltysd thing and have been modding my smash bros on 3ds, I can't seem to find the path to put voices and such in saltysd, though. I'm talking about the model>fighter>Marth sort of thing. Can anyone tell me what the path for voice sfx is? I'm trying to put melee Marth and Roy voices, as well as the Goku voice on Ryu, any help is appreciated.

P.S The guides I've looked at mention something about a data folder but I'm not sure.

EDIT: Fixed. Checked files for upper case letters, made them lower case letters and it worked. Thanks everyone!

voice files go in "saltysd/smash/sound/vc" . Sound effects files go in "saltysd/smash/se"
Hmm, neither voice files worked, but I assume that just has to do with the files themselves. Thanks for your help!

EDIT: Forgot to say, it just crashed when I went into stage select screen.

Well check the version of saltysd that you're using, that could be causing an issue. Also, what other mods are you using besides voice mods?
I got the saltysd file from a friend because the download feature from smash selector was broken, I don't know what version it is, how do I find out? I have a couple of texture mods, mainly on characters, no stage stuff, I got some bgm replacements as well as a character select UI replacement, the one with the cool pixel art, though the dlc doesn't seem to be affected by the mod. Sorry for the late reply.

well, smash selector got updated, I'd recommend getting your saltysd file from the new smash selector.
Okay, I downloaded the latest smash selector, installed it via FBI, downloaded latest saltySD, and checked for updates, no updates available, went ahead and put in the vc and se files in the corresponding folders, crash at stage select screen... I'm really out of ideas here, I'll try removing some voice mods one by one and see if one of them is causing the problem.

EDIT: Tested all the files, NONE work. That can't be right, I'd be fine with one of them causing issues, but all of them? Something else has to be wrong. Have you managed to get voice mods to work properly? If so, would you mind revising the path on the sd card?

I know some voice files fron Wii U mods can cause the 3ds version to crash, but I haven't experienced any crashes at all. If you'd like I can send a copy of my mods to see if anything is different.

I think just the path where your voice mods are located would suffice, knowing me I probably just have them in the wrong spot.

Smash 3DS does not work well with both sound and voice mods. Like, almost not at all.

Smash checks the integrity of voice mods at the stage select screen. There is something wrong with your files. Are they from Wii U?

I believe the Marth, Roy and Goku voices are made for the Wii U. I'm not sure about the Ganondorf melee voice though. It didn't work anyways. I downloaded these voice mods from gamebanana, except the Ganondorf one.

Can you link the mods? I'll test it on mine, just to verify if you want to.

So I downloaded the mods and put them in the right folders, but now the game didn't load... All the other mods I use work fine except for these mods. Maybe the sound files are not compatible somehow. I tested this on the US version and JP version.
That's so odd, game loads for me just fine, only problem is the stage select screen crash, I guess I should avoid voice mods for now... Although they seem pretty neat to have. I'm open to any other ideas you or anyone else might have.

I think when I used the menu translation patch for Shadows of Valentia, it might have ruined my saltysd install. I might have to remove it...

EDIT: Found out that MacOS was storing hidden files, your mod works now. However, the marth mod is glitchy, it has loud static sounds.

@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.

never had that i don't think

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
