Hello, I'm telling you about the attempted repair of this PS5 that arrives without turning on, 3 seconds and turns off.
Check all voltages, there are no shorts. Using uart method gives me the error
80830000 Low Shutdown or Freeze After SAM_IPL Loaded - GDDR6 Data Line Issue (Replace)
I check with a thermal camera and all the rams heat up, I check the resistors, everything is fine.
I do a slight reflow to all the ram (num 2) without touching them, and one of them gets a ball, so I decide to reball it.. Curious, after this I do uart, and now the error is:
8080110C Severe RAM GDDR6 (Bank 3.4) - Single Beep, 1 second blue light, off.
So I decide to change ram 1-4, one by one.
When I have changed the number 3 and 4, using uart it appears:
808016F0 High Not found in list. Report Findings.
I already have numbers 1-4 changed, so I start changing numbers 8-5, one at a time.
I change the number 8, do uart and error:
80801630 High Not found in list. Report Findings.
Change number 7, I do uart and error:
80801690 High Not found in list. Report Findings.
Change number 6, I do uart and error:
808016B0 High Not found in list. Report Findings.
Change number 5, I make uart and error:
80801630 High Not found in list. Report Findings

I think the rams were defective since looking with a thermal camera they heated up first half and then the other half of each module, something abnormal.
Well, once all the modules have been changed, with a thermal chamber they heat uniformly and normally, ... I use uart and error:
80830000 Low Shutdown or Freeze After SAM_IPL Loaded - GDDR6 Data Line Issue (Replace)
Again,…jjjj
So I decide to go for Apu,... I do reballing... and the result is as expected, damaged APU,... 1s blue light, and uart error:
80810001 Low General Power Failure (Periphery, GDDR6, APU, Data Line Short)

And measuring, there is short vcore,... game over.
In this case, the ram and the apu were bad... there are already several PS5s with dead apu... bad for Sony!

Thanks for sharing!
I watched the video.
Just out of curiosity : does the PCB always bend that much while reflowing?
The sides of the APU seem to touch the PCB while in the middle there is quite a gap.

When the PCB is very big and dissipates a lot of heat it always tends to bend a little, you have to preheat it well beforehand. In the video it seems that it bends more than in reality, even so the reballing turned out well,... but I was already expecting the result.
These Ps5 are not turning out to be very good compared to the first PS4.

I get the same code 8083000, so its the actual APU? is it worth taking it to a repair shop getting it fix? my RAM chips get all warm as well I don't have a thermal cam, but I can feel it, not only that but it mostly flashes blue then off sometimes and rarely stays on pulsing blue and cant get to safe mode

Try it, but if it is a damaged APU there is no solution. the solution is a new motherboard

I posted this at a different post, so confirmed a dead APU then (?) I measured resistance on each RAM chip and I get a reading 200, so to test the APU what component should I test to see if I have a dead APU? but I checked those fuses from the console service tool results and they seem fine, so what would be your opinion? APU gets hot too as well
