America, you're not doing quite so bad after all! Nintendo recently announced some preliminary sales figures of the latest hit title on the Nintendo 3DS, Super Smash Bros. 3DS. Feel free to read my Official GBAtemp Review. For two days of sales in North America, grabbing 705,000 copies looks pretty solid. 135,000 were sold on the eShop. It also drove hardware sales up by 55%, moving 130,000 3DS units back in September. With the holidays coming up, these numbers are sure to increase, and with Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire on the horizon, Nintendo's got quite a holiday season coming up. Nintendo is finished. Please understand. They need to go mobile!

Also no the 3ds will be years away from becoming obsolete when the new 3ds comes around! Just saying

This was sort of expected because Super Smash Bros. on the go is an awesome idea and until the Wii U version is released it's OK.

I bought the game, played the game for more than 20hrs, registered the Club Nintendo card, kept those two cards and traded it in for a Wii U game (DK:TF). I wasn't going to play SSB-3DS when the Wii U edition would be out and saw that DK:TF had the same value so I went for it.

I thought a long time ago, we decided sales figures weren't news, at least not overly relevant news for this site. Maybe times have changed. I digress.

Is anybody actually surprised though? We all know Nintendo games sell well on Nintendo consoles. It's not all that uncommon for the biggest of them to sell over a million copies, usually dwarfing third party sales figures on Nintendo consoles and confirming why they don't want to come within 10 feet of the Wii U or 3DS. Especially where Smash Bros is concerned, we only get one per generation, only since the N64, and this is the first time that one has gone mobile, opening up to all of those who aren't interested in the home consoles. All in all, I would be surprised if the game wasn't selling stupidly well.

Needs to go mobile? Terrible idea. Who in their right mind would want to play a game like this on a fucking touchscreen.

I had an iPhone which I sold off but before that I'd play some zombie FPS game and I could never have any god damn accuracy with it.

Either a physical controller or I won't play it.

    Between insane and insecure
Or they could just not and just start pushing more 3rd party games for their systems.

Plus mobile is a horrible idea and most likely cost them more money. They would either have to make their own OS, which could come with some hit n' miss results or use Android, which could put their games on other phones or leave it open to be hacked.
    Plus touchscreen controls still suck.

Imagine playing those special Mario 3D World stages which require absolute precision and timing with a touchscreen controller...

yeh just what they need so they can make lots of lame casual crappy games with terrible fucking touch controls that require gold, gems, coins whatever the fuck shit they use so you can access an item mall to continue playing/play properly! :glare:

Well, because, Guild deemed it so, amirite? :creep:
Because he hates Nintendo and has what the Germans called schadenfreude, the pleasure of seeing others' suffering.

Come on Nintendo make it happen. "Mario Kart 9" is an awful name and "Mario Party 10" is absolutely horrible so don't let your karting series continue to have a crappy name.
