Man it's been a long time since this thread has been "active"
Looks amazing, any chance of a vid in action ?
Also do you know if that Multiplayer mod is still in the works?

Thanks
I'm sure it is, however we know as much as you guys. The last time I heard, chadderz was working on it by himself, but he didn't have much time because of real life.
Search "Whitehole" if you are using a different editor.
Yes, Whitehole is the editor that Mega-Mario created as an alternative to Anarchy in the Galaxy.

IDK if anybody's mentioned it before now but we're now located at http://kuribo64.net/?page=smg25

We're currently having some stuff in the works for a new trailer. And no cheap only-for-the-trailer-beta stuff, these will actually be somewhat close to the final game. We're currently at a lack of people who can texture and bake shading onto models, so importing stuff into the game is slow, because the textures are the only things that matter in-game. You don't see the lines or individual polys. That said, it would be appreciated to have some people who know how to do a good job texturing help out.

Well we've got some all new content for you guys, some semi-new enemies and some brand new concepts :D
Disclaimer: The footage shown may or may not be in the final game.
I just linked the images because otherwise they'd make the post too long to be practical. WAI IS THERE NO SPOILERS BUTTON TO HIDE THEM.

Well... It's kinda alive. The development of SMG 2.5 has been canceled a while ago. Fortunately , very recently it has been revealed that some of the members of SMG2.5 team are making a mini-hack ( one world ) based on concepts and ideas from original project. You can check it out here :
http://kuribo64.net/?page=thread&id=1533
And by the way, on kuribo64 forums there's a whole section dedicated to SMG hacking , and some users already created their custom levels, so You can check them out :)

2014 doesn't start this well on our side. After ages without news, I finally have one to post, and it's a bad one.

SMG2.5 is cancelled.

When I first met the team, I had the feeling we could do great things together, and an amazing SMG hacking scene would form.

But SMG2.5 was too ambitious. They wanted to make 49 fully custom galaxies. It just takes too much time unless you're a team like the one Nintendo hired.

Other SMG-related projects may be started, but don't get your hopes up. Over time, it appeared that outside of SMG2.5, noone cares about SMG hacking. The scene is inexistant.

On a more positive note, SM64DS has more chances of forming a good scene. We have Fiachra making the editor the best possible, Skelux making amazing hacks, and other hackers joining in too... let's hope this continues this way.

Very sad news.
It was too ambitious right from the start.
I never understood why there was no plan to do one galaxy first, 48 later.

I understand Mario Galaxy 2.5 was a bit of an overstretch but what about a Mario 64 remake using Galaxy 2, Whomps Fortress is already done :P

I thought PS4/5 and Xbox One emulation would be kind of easy since they basically just a PC

    they sorta are a pc
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik

but its a custom os for both of them

    designed for only specific hardware
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think

It's a locked down Linux distro basically
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They place married security chips onto boards iirc

Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm

At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.
