Meh, I would have rather it be more like Mario 64 than the 2D Marios. 64 and Sunshine are still my favorite 3D Mario games. I didn't like the Galaxy games much either. Though I'll still pick this game up anyway.

I'm not one to normally complain about Mario, but it seems like they are trying to dumb Mario games down (in terms of gameplay, not difficulty) rather than let them evolve.

Keeping it to a different gaming formula does not necessarily mean "dumbing down".
Open world design and linear design are just two different things, one is not a lesser formula than the other.

Having always enjoyed 2D mario games this is on my "instabuy" list.
