Square Enix unveils two new Final Fantasy mobile games, one of which is a remake of FFVII
Is one remake of Final Fantasy VII not enough for you? Square Enix seems to think so, with the announcement of Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis. The company revealed two different Final Fantasy mobile games, one of which is a prequel to FFVII, while the other is an all-encompassing remake of all FFVII related stories. Final Fantasy: The First Soldier is a battle royale with a story that takes place 30 years before the start of VII. It's a third-person shooter where you must defeat all other opponents in order to become the first SOLDIER. Releasing for iOS and Android, it'll be available worldwide sometime in 2021.
More traditional fans may be interested in Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, which takes everything Final Fantasy VII related--Dirge of Cerberus, Advent Children, Crisis Core, and more--and compiles it in a chapter-based RPG that retells it all from start to finish. Less information was given about this game, but it'll be on mobile platforms in 2022, with a trailer showcasing the graphics and a brief look at the presumably turn-based battle system.
In addition, today SQUARE ENIX announced two exciting new mobile games set in the FINAL FANTASY VII world. FINAL FANTASY VII THE FIRST SOLDIER is a battle royal action game set in Midgar before the events of FINAL FANTASY VII. As a SOLDIER candidate, the player will make full use of their magic and abilities in a battle for their survival. FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS is a chapter-structured single player experience which will cover the whole of the FFVII timeline, including the events of the original game along with all the FFVII compilation titles, as well as new story elements, penned by FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE story and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima, surrounding the origins of SOLDIER. More information on these two mobile games, FINAL FANTASY VII THE FIRST SOLDIER and FINAL FANTASY VII EVER CRISIS, will be announced at a later date.
