Anyway, I've actually been pretty hooked on the DS demo, doing speed runs on the first level alone.
My current best is 0'56''35, I even have proof thanks to the DSTwo's RTS.

Uhh looks like you can't do anything your self, only press buttons on the D-pad and Pow sonic runs all the way to the end

Watch the video, there's a very simple trick to skip the hang-glider section, just use a red burst wisp.
That can shave off 40 seconds.

True enough, getting to the end is actually fairly easy in these games.
The real fun is actually in getting the best possible times, which can actually be very challenging, there's route planing and memorisation involved, along with quick reflex.
You also can't just spam tricks to fill your boost gauge any more, you really need to target white wisp capsules and enemies.

Couldn't care less about the DS versions - was never big into the Rush games, but the Wii version looks pretty damn good for a 3D Sonic game.
