Gaming Smash Brawl USA DVD9 on DVD5 Working

Wiiscrubber only reads the first layer. Therefore, it just reads the first layer and saves that as a scrubbed file. So DVD5 version is much easier to make that it seems.

isnt most the game files on the 2nd layer though? or are the layers & partitios 2 different things, im gonna try wiiscrubber now on the dvd9 as i'm out dl discs lol

If you remember the Jap version on a DVD5 it's the same deal. I haven't tested this myself, but I assume it means no Subspace Emissary, but full multiplayer, like the Japanese version.

Ahhhh awesome. If I can't get my dual layer disc to work I'll try the scrubber trick to get a DVD5 version. Thanks.

i burnt the dvd-5 with wii scrubber, vs worked ok, story mode thing worked fine until i beat kirbys ass, then it crashed with the green screen, thanks anyways, looks like i have to get some more dl discs lol

Just confirming that running WiiScrubber and burning to a single layer DVD worked for me. I'd already patched the update.inf file to remove duplicate channels, so I let the update run, and it works perfectly (minus the stuff that is missing from a DVD5 version obviously)

Using a D2C PAL Wii with D2CKey
Verbatim single layer DVD-R printable media at 16x
LG GSA-H42N burner

I burned it like described in the first post.

The update failed about halfway through when I put the game in.

I connected to the net and uodated my wii that way.

And now its working

At least multiplayer. Havent tried anything else.

Wiikey updated to the mario galaxy firmware. USA system. 4x Cheap dvd+r media.

I freaken got the dvd5 vers. Got rdy to burn it. burned it and tested it. Some how the wii kept giving me a weird noise. So while in the process of reburning. I noticed I didn't BURN it. It was in test mode. *sigh*. reburned for realz this time and it works. thanks

I already tried to wiiscrubb this disc.

Tried with both Brickblocker and with that "Trucha Signer" method, none works for me.
I get to the screen in disc channel that I see the "Super Mario Smash Brawl" and then I start the game and Blackscreen.

I fight for hours with this last night, Wiiscrubber won't help you. If you decrypt it, the whole Partition 2 is 7GBs, its has 2 Dummy files. Called dummy1.dat and dummy2.dat, just filled with 00s. 200mb of 00s that is.

Also one called "Border.dat" so I think Nintendo have some check that notice if these files been modified aka. empty it.

Wiiscrubber actually works it fills junk data with FFs and 00s (Data, data = size so it will still be the same) and therefor when you Winrar it, its only THEN you gain the benefits of wiiscrubber. Since winrar can Pack FFs and 00s alot better than normal data.

I think we can rip this file out, DOUBUTSUGO_JP_BOY.BRSAR, It seems to be the Japaneise audio file.

What I actually think takes so much space its all the movies. Its loads of them and they are big, SonicMovie.thp is freaking HUGH!

EDIT: Found SnakeMovie.thp to be extremly big too. Seems just fair that this game is suppose to be a dual-layer. The Dummy files is just to file out space to make it full DL disc, I keep on searching for a soultion.

Nice. Yeah, it would be cool to be able to just rip some movies out and throw it on a dvd5 properly instead of the wiiscrub method.

Couldn't you theoretically, replace the huge movies with smaller ones? Or a dummy "movie" file that automatically skips the movie? Someone would have to figure out how to encrypt it to look like the movie file, but it could be possible. Then we could have all the gameplay, just without CG scenes every 30 seconds.

in case you guys aren't already aware, there's two methods to have a working SSBB complete with SSE/ADventure mode http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=78029 essentially video files replaced, and some other odds and ends providing a "complete" SSBB but on DVD5
