For those having problems adding more music slots to a Stage or the Names of a Song not replacing in-game, you have to start over again (which I'm sure the creator said as well) without using "Save/Load Configuration".

Just open Sm4shMusic and edit it from there, don't click Load or Save your Configuration. Once you finish editing everything, just click "Compile Modifications" since that saves your work too.

That worked for me.

Well... After all the trouble, this managed to at least solve the issue of the Japanese-exclusive songs not appearing. Will test with expansion songs next. (I also added the vanilla 288 patch in SD card's patch folder)
EDIT: Bingo! Got custom song on Umbra Clock Tower using @-Hero-'s method. I used one of the supposedly "bad" BLANK spots as well (the first one, 522, to be exact) and it worked fine (except still no Original or Remix text or even the red or gray backdrop for it)

Nothing. I give up for today.

Someone on Discord mentioned that we can't use the existing blank slots (THEN WHY HAVE THEM) and we must add our own in order for them to work.

*sigh*

That doesn't make any sense, doesn't the tutorial in the original post use one of the blank slots? I really can't find the issue here.

There's a way around that actually. Use Sm4shMusic to obtain the file name to for the slot you want to replace. Then get your song you want to add to Smash, rename it to the song you want to replace, then place it in the bgm folder on your SD card.

But I don't want to extra music to replace the existing music. That's what I was doing before this came out.

I'm going to add the vanilla update once it finishes downloading, then try compiling a mod with added slots, and using blank slots. I'll post results in a bit.

When you insert a new song make sure to add 1 to the index number because for some reason the program copies the previous index number and puts it on the the one you want to add, causing it to not show up on my music.

To clarify: do we copy the patch folder from the v288 update onto the SD card, then put our mod files? Will some files not get overwritten or will it be fine?

Are people having an issue using the blank slots starting at 522? I've been using them for 4 songs so far, and they've been working just fine. The only issue I'm having at all with anything is where certain UI elements aren't appearing like the Remix and Original text.

Yes, that's one bug that actually exists (remix/original)
