I think with all the fuss about slot 1 solutions we should have a thread to discuss it more specifically. I myself have been waiting for sometime for a good ds slot one solution, was disapointed by the ninjaX9, acekard, and ninjaDS...and to me the DSX is a slap in the face when seeing how much onboard memory is available given it's price tag. It feels like to me they are capitalizing on the good software and programing. They know there product is better at the moment so they can charge allot more for allot less memory. This day in age, 130 bucks...wow, and for only 512MB?. That's just silly, so i'm going to wait until i hear what ninjads micro has to say, and i'm going to wait for ewin3 to comment aswell.

yeah me to, but I was pretty close to getting the ewin2 and letting it stick out off my ds. It seems like all slot 1 solutions are just not making the cut for one reason or another, but i really do think the ewin 3, or the ninjads micro are going to slaughter the DS X..i mean if the ewin 2 just fit flush into the ds lite i would buy that over the dsx, it's ashame the dsx isn't atleast 1GB, because i would pay 130 for the convenience and the 1GB

Well I bought a DS-X about 2 months ago and not looked back since !

Yeah 512mb isnt masses but lets look at it logicly.

I have way over 10GB of applications for my ds, so wouldnt be able to have them all on a slot 1 device. (or 10 - 15 Micro SD cards) So they are all on my PC and backed up on DVD's.

Movies on the DS are poor quality so I dont want to keep them on there and MP3's are all stored on my mobile (which I need to cary with me for work) (and because I need a phone anyway)

So having 6 - 8 apps on my DS-X at once just means that I need to change the apps every so often ! (New one comes out ... take an old one off and keep the .sav file on your PC !)

Some guy has even made a DS-X manager for windows to make things easier ! (just like syncronising your Ipod !)

The logic is If I have 512MB device and you have 2GB we would both have to delete some old apps to make room for new ones !

Well this is just my opinion and I would recommend DS-X to anyone. !

I agree completely, 100%, but when your selling the thing for 130 bucks...well then the argument changes considerably. DUDE, 130 dollars! that's laughable really..the ds lite costs that much brand new, i'm not saying the DSX is bad at all, it's awesome, but not for the price. I could buy 4 real life ds games. Not implying that the ones I'm going to have aren't going to be store bought, because they are, and then i'm going to flash them to my personal backup device...cough...i would buy the dsx as a nice solution if it were in the 50 to 70 dollar range. but the lack of expandable memory, or lack of exceptable internal memory aren't things to ignore.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
