Hey I have a problem with my DSi where the shoulder buttons do not react or very seldom do. And I know that when a N64 Controller's buttons stop working it's because there cheetos crumbs stuck in there and I have to take it apart and clean it out re align some springs and it works perfectly. Now I am not very familiar with taking the DSi apart and I hate dealing with ribbon cables because all they like to do it break.

I'm just posting to see if anyone who might be familiar with the DSi thinks this could be an easy fix.

My DSi buttons stop working all the time. I put my mouth over them and blow really hard which makes them work again for a couple of weeks.

If in the future you need to take your DSi apart because the shoulder buttons permanently don't work, I'd advise to go to a professional. I looked at guides online about taking a DS Lite apart and it looked really difficult because of having to thread the wifi connection and mic wire through the barrels that are on the hinge of the DS itself. I'd imagine the wires would probably be in the same place on the DSi.

had this issue with my ds lite, and did that same thing to fix it. they have been working for a couple of years, not weeks. to minimize this problem store your ds in a case and keep it away from dust. don't carry it in your pocket without a case or some type of bag that will keep out all that tiny dust and lint.

If you can see grime/dust get a peper clip and run it under and out the tiny gap to remove dust, oreo crumbs, skin flakes. Things you can expect to find near a gamer.

Well I used to blow into the shoulder buttons, but then my DSi started to shut off randomly and recently it would stop working for a whole day, so I think it's better if you use a can of compressed air, to be on the safe side.

it is 100% better because it won't have the corrosive junk that is in your spit. the problem is that i've found cans of compressed air are not strong enough to get the dust out of the trigger buttons. blowing with my mouth and then waiting a few days for it to dry was the only solution. i wonder if a 100psi compressor from a bike shop would have worked? maybe that's overkill. lol

@Xdqwerty No you heard wrong, and don't believe till you experience yourself. Fallout 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. Yes it had issues early on, esp with older hardware like the xbox1, but it is awesome, esp now being 4k on Series S/X or PS5

@BigOnYa, Then i think people were talking about fallout 76
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    that one was buggy too
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you right there, fallout 76 was a letdown, but it not that bad now, they have fixed slot of issues they had at launch. Biggest issue with Fallout 76 is its a pay to advance further type of game, which sucks
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, I may probably download fallout 3 or new vegas on my ps3
