2. Flash Openwrt using this tutorial
Code:
https://wiki.hackerspace.pl/projects:zsun-wifi-card-reader:factory-update

I'm stuck on 4. here. How do you get to a point where you can create folders? The ZSUN doesn't show up in Windows network folders.

Wanted to thank the OP for making a thread about this device. I have something unrelated to Wii U hosting I can use a device like this for and found out about it here.

I'll probably get a second also for my Wii U as I rather keep it offline permanently than risk hooking it to a network with internet access, even with blocking methods to prevent updates.

1.)download winscp

2.)use pc sign in to zsun wifi

3.)create new site in winscp with these settings:
use openwrt address as hostname (mines default at 192.168.1.1)
use port 22
scp protocol
username should be "root"
password is whatever u set as web interface password

4.)click your new site and then connect

5.)you should now see the contents of the zsun nand(i guess?) in like a ftp structure
you can copy and paste where ever you want

another side note since ive had the device for a while i found out u can use the existing http server installed with openwrt by putting it in the same folder as the "luci" file and entering the /*.html at the end of your zsun ip address

hope that helps ill try to keep an eye here till u get it running

I haven't installed anything till now.
Following this:
https://wiki.hackerspace.pl/projects:zsun-wifi-card-reader:factory-update
I went through all steps including 3 which then dismounts the usb access to the micro SD in "My Computer".
However, I turned it on and tried creating the .update (or .update. for Windows) folder while it's mounted as usb and put the SD100-openwrt.tar.gz in there. But whenever I do step 5 from there I get Error "-2". After mounting it again as usb (via the url http://10.168.168.1:8080/goform/Setcardworkmode?workmode=1) the .update folder is gone.
That sucks. :(

gotcha try this and leave username and the password blank

right click on my computer,
goto map network drive
select a drive letter
type \\zsun\public as folder path
that should allow you to access the directory

side note i noticed when u create the ".update" folder the device will rename the folder. copy the update file to this folder an it will work

Doesn't work. He always wants a username. :(

I managed to create the upload directory by accessing the "router homepage" via going to url //zsun in a browser. Then I uploaded the tar.gz and run the FirmWare url again but I get error code "-2" all the fucking time! -.-

I tried this already since I found this login in the wiki.
Hell bro, you don't need to format just for me. I'm sure I'll find a way somehow.
How did you do it? With Linux?

Good guide OP. I requested that a mod change the tile to somehow include the fact that it's using a WiFi sd adapter. This won't be obvious to some. I've already been asked how to make this work with just an sd.

Maybe something like:
Self hosting with SD WiFi adapter. All files included

1)login to 192.168.1.1

2)hover over network and click wifi

3)click the scan at the top

4)login to your wifi(does not associate the networks i.e. if pc is on zsun wifi it cannot connect online)
be sure to uncheck replace wireless network. i created a new firewall zone named wwan however im not sure this is necessary.

5)double check u cant access websites from your pc

6)triple check u cant access websites from your pc

7)then hover over network click software

8)click update file lists

9)click available packages

10)in filter type php*

11)install php5

12)install php5-cgi

13)open winscp

14)goto /etc/config

15)right click uhttpd then click edit

16)add a line after list listen_https '[::]:443'

17)add (list interpreter '.php=/usr/bin/php-cgi') to that line

18)click save in the upper left corner

19)close the file

20)reboot and you should have php

You'll need to eject the sd card and insert it at boot up. The SD detect pin is mapped to the reset.

thats the snag.. to my knowledge thats what i would have to do. although when done, it just resets my openwrt to default settings as opposed to actually reverting back to stock. i know im missing something silly just trying to find it

@lordelan While looking for stock firmware, i stumbled across a work around posted on the hackaday article

https://hackaday.com/2016/01/27/cheap-wifi-devices-are-hardware-hacker-gold/#comments

Code:

Just upgraded to OpenWRT. Dziękuję! I couldn’t get the SMB share method to copy over to the device so I used this:

Run the Workmode change and then using the web interface,

upload the .tar.gz file to any directory on the device.

Unless you run the Workmode change first, you’ll get an error about not being able to upload from this device.

Use the telnet backdoor to login and create the /etc/disk/.update directory

and the mv the .tar.gz file into that directory.

Then perform the upFirmWare.

Done. btw, telnet 10.168.168.1 11880 does work with standard telnet client.

nothing the sd is just to update the zsun to the openwrt firmware

the /www folder is on the internal memory of the device with the openwt firmware it is used as the root folder of the standard webserver "uhttpd"

what i have added here is the hbl exploit files with the index.html renamed as to not disturb the original web interface

I renamed the index.html to config.html

Then I also added a hostname of wiiu.com

So I just have to go to wiiu.com in the wiiu browser.

I actually used this guide back at some point to get the zsun setup.

http://www.coyne.nu/blog/2016/01/31/installing-openwrt-on-the-zsun-wifi-card-reader-from-windows/

It goes over how to setup the unit has a AP/STP client so you can install packages like php5.

Once you install OpenWrt there is no going back to the zsun firmware unless you reflash.
