Anybody remember those Nintendo Fusion rumours from back in January? That always struck me as an interesting idea, and not completely infeasible. I could see announcement this year, showcase next year and release holiday 2015. I realize that would only be a 3 year turn around from the Wii U, which would be significantly shorter than their typical 5-6 year console refresh (this has held since the original NES in the US anyway), but the Wii U hasn't done great, and shows no signs of picking up anytime soon (it is stuck in this really bad negative feedback loop where nobody is buying one because there are no games, and nobody is making games for one since nobody is buying it). It would also somewhat fit with Iwata wanting to expand Nintendo beyond a games company; a new console could be a great opportunity to expand into other things.
