Takes this with a grain of salt.
A new handheld on par with the Vita?
Unless you are talking about hardware wise I don't think you want it to be on par with sales which 3ds dominates.
Maybe a Wii U redesign? A brand new console would basically be Nintendo waiving the white flag.
no 3DS game will reach the level of awesomeness of Persona 4: The Golden
I really doubt this is Real , Nintendo didn´t even teased a new console....yet.
3DS XL Light, mark my words.
I did see this in their latest video:
Looks like a gold 3DS XL.
Gold? I only see.... actually idk what that is. Looks like a console from the 3DS family.
I am going with the work of a marginally competent web designer.
Is it E3 speculation season already? Good golly gosh, I haven't even prepared at all.
God help us all.
XL Light? How would that even work? Bigger but also smaller... so it's like a TARDIS?
What i meant is a lighter 3DS XL ;A;
It might be their next console Announcing this year and maybe showcasing next year? Lol I know nothing.
idk looks kindof blue to me
Because the old one is so heavy?
because the 3DS XL is a little heavier than a Open Pandora and even the Vita 1000 weights less.
but I think a redesign of the Wii U sound logical, to make the struggling console cost less to produce, and only for that.
Communities with this sort of "leaks" (aka reddit and neogaf) never fail to amuse me. They want so bad Nintendo going the Sega route and auto-destructing itself.
Less well established franchises like Mario/Zelda? (like that worked so well for Sonic-deprived Saturn)
Less "weaboo"/kiddie/niche/ Japanese games?
(the Turbografx-16 and the Saturn almost had nothing localized, just awaiting for the anemic Western support... so much fun)
Going third party and prostituting their franchises as mobile apps barely qualifying as games even compared to previous cellphone games?
(look at how popular the Sonic series is popular right now in Japan! or how relevant the Crash series is now!)
Killing the Wii U (earlier they were even calling for the 3DS's blood) early and trying to release the next platform early hoping that customers are idiot enough to buy another potential paperweight? Or just killing it for the hell of it and going third-party shortly after/selling all their IPs for huge profit (like what happened with Hudson series, right?)
(it worked WONDERS for Sega after their 2 year-old Saturn/X32 gen)
Anybody remember those Nintendo Fusion rumours from back in January? That always struck me as an interesting idea, and not completely infeasible. I could see announcement this year, showcase next year and release holiday 2015. I realize that would only be a 3 year turn around from the Wii U, which would be significantly shorter than their typical 5-6 year console refresh (this has held since the original NES in the US anyway), but the Wii U hasn't done great, and shows no signs of picking up anytime soon (it is stuck in this really bad negative feedback loop where nobody is buying one because there are no games, and nobody is making games for one since nobody is buying it). It would also somewhat fit with Iwata wanting to expand Nintendo beyond a games company; a new console could be a great opportunity to expand into other things.
It'll still have more games than Vita.
