Electronic Arts and Harmonix have revealed a slew of new details and images for the new “Pro” instruments that players will use to wicked shred in the upcoming rock and/or roll simulator Rock Band 3.

First up, there’s the all-new Pro Guitar, which features 17 frets worth of buttons (that’s 102 buttons!) and six strings in place of the traditional plastic flipper used for strumming. Basically, it’s the closest thing to a real guitar without being a real guitar. Funnily enough, the game also supports the Rock Band 3 Fender Stratocaster controller, which is a fully-sized, fully-functioning electric guitar that also doubles as a controller. Harmonix haven’t released any images of this guitar yet, but expect that to change during E3 2010 next week.

The other major new addition is the mini keyboard. It’s…well, it’s a keyboard. Simple as that. The game also includes an adapter that lets you use the midi keyboard outside of the game on a computer with appropriate software.

And finally the new Pro Drums allows for three extra cymbals to be added to the drum kit and includes differentiation between toms and cymbals in the game for those drum purists out there.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
