Plus, they are incredibly useful for Hotkeys precisely because they are unused by many cores. Not to mention that when PlayStation 1 is eventually added to RetroArch, a lot of the buttons will be unavailable for Hotkeys because of that system alone.
Very good points ;)

Slightly related.. You can use a PS3 controller (usb/wired) to play the PS1 Core on WiiU so if we can get the L3+R3 Buttons fixed we can have the FULL Playstation experience :toot:

Retroarch loading times now are relatively good and much better than before:
- Roms within the same core (except arcade) are loaded almost instantly
- Arcade roms loading is relatively fast : For example Street Fighter III 3rd strike (68 MB) load in 14s. Almost 5 MB/s.

That reminded me to mention my tests lol

So I finally updated my whole WiiU RetroArch stuff, cores and main executable, and I think it's worth noting that the speedup in core loading is only possible if you boot through CBHC or Mocha/CFW .
If you don't have any kind of coldboot setup, and only have a DS title with HBL installed, and run RA from there, you'll still get somewhat slow loading times.
It was only when I ran Mocha that I noticed those speedup loading times being mentioned.

On a last side note, PrBoom/Doom now works fine with saving and loading, so yay for me I guess lol

Almost there! So instant loading do work as long as you're running cfw (according to ShadowOne333)+load the core first+"Always reload core on run content" is disabled.
But on a quick test running snes core+rom at once I got longer loading time than the previous version I have (2021-07-19): 8 seconds then vs 15 seconds now.

Sorry I had CBHC activated years ago so I assumed that's the case for every console.

Yes the first time you load a core it takes some 5s-10s. Then when you load roms for the same core they'll load instantly (except FBA/MAME).

4-5MB/s might not seem much but in the context of retro-emulation it's already good.

Don't close the issue yet, I need to see if the Pro Controller is working as well first.
Ok, I wont close it until you confirm ;)

PS1 UPDATE:
Good news PS1 lovers the PS1 Dynarec on WiiU works!! it was a bit touch and go whether the Dynarec could be run on WiiU, but luckily it seems to be running.. ok.. its not the lightning fast speed increase I thought it was going to be but it runs :)
Mad thanks to Quarky for the fixes that got the Dynarec running on WiiU!! Thank You mate!!
Next is to see if Embercold can tweak the Dynarec to get some more speed out of it and also to add their polyfill
("What I'm making is a polyfill, basically, an implementation of the missing libraries using libogc functions. These tend to be small, so once I'm done with the interfaces, I'll likely have both the Wii and WiiU versions done fast. Then I'll have to test and maybe repair the multithreaded gpulib.") and then Lightrec (another Dynarec!!) we hoped for Dynarec running on PS1 WiiU then we end up getting TWO!! :) :) :)

I made an initial games comparison, with Dynarec on/off (remember still early days, Games will get faster)
Bust A Move 2 (has no background music)
Rec on=48 FPS Rec off=43 FPS (the FPS doesn't really convey the speed improvement, its quite noticeable)

hopefully dynarec improves in the long run because its weird that a game with dynarec only gains 5 to 10 fps from interpreter imo.

Hey guys just want to ask before I spend 4 hours setting this thing up can retro arch gbc Emulator support link cable features to be exact trading in Pokémon crystal. There’s videos on it but it’s always retro arch on pc or if it’s on the Wii U it’s using an arcade emulator.

dont think any emulator on any console supports any link cable within the same console, consoles are not powerful enough to run 2 emulators at the same time.

If I was able to use 2 retroarchs like one on android or pc is that possible and connect it to my Wii U using lan or whatever network thing it uses.

IIRC the TGBDual core allows this. I once managed to boot two games on the Wii U but they ran very slow. That was a long time ago, so idk if there was any improvement.
Anyway, load the first game using the TGBDual core and then in the quick menu you can select the other game

I think the TGBDual core doesnt work on WiiU atm.. it used to, but right now it's messed up.
