"2017-05-08_RetroArch" ... that just came out ... and ... "snes9x2002_libretro.vpk"...this version finally works without crashing on Super Mario RPG Armageddon .8 (FF6 hard mod still crashed)...Great Job that is the best snes emulator available for vita, I'm using it on the pstv. Actually, all the recently nightly builds seem to work on pstv.

Too bad there's no clock speed settings in anything worth wild in retroarch, anyone have luck getting "amphetamin" plugin to work with retroarch?

Installed both single core packs from the package listed "snex9x2002_libretro.vpk" and "snes9x2005_libretro.vpk" (both have their own bubbles, and reference the same retroarch folder in the data folder)

"My playlist.lpl" (notepad document) (ux0:/data/retroach/playlists)

ux0:/roms/snes/F-Zero.zip
F-Zero
app0:/eboot.bin
DETECT
0|crc
My playlist.lpl
ux0:/roms/snes/F-Zero - Geliefert.zip
F-Zero - Geliefert
app0:/eboot.bin
DETECT
0|crc
My playlist.lpl

This will show the roms "F-Zero.zip" and "F-Zero - Galiefert.zip" in the collections/playlist option in the snes emulators for both single cores installed, follow the format and add titles. Can't seem to show the boxart images or the feature does not work (just out of luck with that or, i'll try a few more things, maybe a future update will fix?)

Don't know why you are quoting me, but... The images and boxart must have the same name as your rom.

And I thought that the roms run faster if they are unzipped.

used the images created from the screenshots + some found here https://github.com/libretro/libretro-thumbnails pictures will not show at all (unless the roms are identified in the database file "Nintendo - Super Nintendo Entertainment System.rdb") ... the only way to fix that is to fix the entries and compile the file, what a choir, I'll try to edit an entry in with a hex editor ... I read some people tried that and it didn't work, anyway, Go into the "Directory" option and you can set the rom folder from the "File Browser" option, you don't need to use a "Play List"

(Working EDITED "Nintendo - Super Nintendo Entertainment System.rdb" for "F-Zero.smc", don't worry about crc or file size, just an example, used hex editor, you can see where i blanked out the value near the top in the file)

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By2fYmdwwkMXYVY0YmlNYzhZQ3M/view?usp=sharing

using the big plus symbol uptop to "scan compatible file", after that "F-Zero.smc" shows up in the "Load Content/collections" option under the "Main Menu" big symbol...............guess that's a start, won't know if that worked until I add another rom using same method, then back to see if some boxart will show up, boo hoo.

EDIT

display images on rom selections, preview images I think its just disabled for stability. the program does show previews of savestates when you find the option (use the quick menu in game after setting the option to show savestates preview images) (changing the file path of the program from its native thumbnail and screenshots to the working savestates should show previews, just about finished though, what a choir, can't get to the string path from a hex editor, so from the source or maybe a future update)

This new PCEngine Beetle core is not as good as the older Medafen one.
Serious slow down on Gates of Thunder. Never had that.

Any chance of changing it back?

Kind of sure that beetle = mednafen. And yes, it has slowdowns when it's loading something.

It slows down on the large ship section on the first level.
I'm sure it never done it on 13.6.
I'm going to try an older version.

Whats the Beetle stand for? They never had that on the older verison.
Plus they have added turbo buttons.

Go see the logo of the mednafen emulator. It's a beetle.

What's the best SNES core to use?
I would like to be able to play Super Mario RPG, Kirby Dream Land, Star Ocean, Star Fox 2, Yoshi's Island.

Latest nightly fixed a problem with blocking input polling. Now menu runs at 60fps and frame throttle is back.

e.g. PCSX_REARMED with Crash Team Racing without vsync and no sound reaches 160fps in some scenes.

Thanks.

Any chance of sorting out ZanacXzanac.

It works OK when not using bios. But when using bios the newest game does not boot,

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
