*Sigh* I'll look into it. I don't understand why the 3dsx builds would have the problem, and not the CIAs. They're compiled from literally the same code.

Edit: PocketSNES 3dsx doesn't exhibit the problem either. What core are you using?

Hi I was using pico drive mainly but tried all the core just kept saying no core.

Suggestion:

If recommended release versions based on play-testing feedback were to be included in the OP, it would greatly help those who are new or not up to date with the latest info. As it stands right now, there are so many things broken from build to build that one needs to literally read through most of the thread to piece everything together.

Also, a potential byproduct of recommending releases would be that more people would be using the same working releases, which increases the likelihood of them being available on the web somewhere as opposed to vanishing without a trace.

7.3 sysnand. But im trying to sell my O3ds XL zelda edition and trying to find a 9.0/9.2 fw n3dsXL.
Those are VERY rare to find now and VERY expensive when the seller knows what he has. You can literally scour the internet and not find a single one other than the ones sold by scalpers. The n3DS may be the most frustrating system I've ever encountered. Not only is it difficult to find one with a 9.0/9.2 firmware, but they also have quality control issues. Even if you find the right firmware, luck of the draw decides which screen you end up with (TN or IPS) and whether or not you end up with a creaky/floppy/gappy hinge.

I can't seem to get fMSX working on my N3DS.
I downloaded the 3DSX build, and when I try to boot any ROM, all I get is a black screen. :/

Any suggestions?

Yea I made a mistake, I just sold my O3DS XL zelda edition to fund my n3ds, but now I dont really feel like jumping through all those hoops. Its alright I guess, I only played like 2-3 game son the 3ds anyway.

I found a guy selling a black IPS 9.0 n3ds xl but he wants 300 canadian, maybe I can talk him down but still. I'd need to track down cubic ninja because im not injecting my sysnand either way. There needs to be another exploit, fuck these scalpers.

@daxtsu?
Alongside that question, I would like to ask if someone has found a way to get filters working properly.
When I activate a filter in one core, somehow the setting is saved for other cores and some of them show up a black screen with the filter enabled. I have to manually disable the filters in order for the games to show up properly.

hey people,

Is it possible to display emulator video on lower n3ds screen instead of upper one ?

Lower one is 4:3 which fits perfectly older games from SNES era

I don't think so, unfortunately.

if you are concerned about scaling/stretching, there's a few settings you can change.

We really should start tracking, logging, and archiving the best working builds (*.3ds, *.3dsx, and *.cia). I've seen some on here suggest that there were issues introduced in November that still haven't been fixed, yet the nightly builds repository only keeps builds dating back two weeks. That essentially locks new users out from accessing the allegedly superior November builds. Personally, I think all devs should always keep a latest stable build available at their website, but if they won't do it then it's on the community to do it or deal with the same problems the following January, February, March, etc.

If anyone wants to contribute, you can start by leaving feedback on what builds have worked best for you and why. If we can get enough data collected, perhaps Slasher115 can add that info to the OP.

The latest nightly builds should be working fine, at least they are for me. Two big issues, the "no core" issue and the DSP driver freezing issue, were fixed recently.

I've not seen any other reports than one on a few pages back that the "No cores" issue still exists, and even then, I have a feeling he's pulling my leg, because Steveice10, aliaspider, me, and others can pretty much confirm that we don't have the issue anymore. If you're still having the issue, make doubly sure you've updated your 3dsx/.3ds/cia versions of whatever core you're using to the latest, and if necessary, delete your config files and start fresh. I don't really know what to suggest beyond that. It's something on the user's end now. The code is fixed.

I guess it's time to bite the bullet and try the new versions now.

Been holding back because of people saying it's not working but now have my hax updated to latest version due to last nights Shennanigans.

Nice! Perhaps you could fix the PC-Engine 1:1 resolution problem? :)

I remember seeing someone mention that a few pages back. What's it doing, stretching the image with bilinear filtering? I also recall someone mentioning having a similar issue with picodrive.

Thanks Steve. I'll check em out. I actually just started using my New 3DS XL yesterday, so I'm not up to speed with everything yet.

I don't know the technical details. All I know is that emulation on pc-engine looks wrong. It's not the nice crisp 1:1, that all other retroarch emulators has!
