So the original had DLC and this is it remade?
Or did they cut out some of the original and make it into extra paid dlc?

Why didnt they do the right thing and add the dlc into the remake?

These days, remakes, rereleases, reboots are just money grabs and scams.
I say keep your consoles and if you want to play a game then play it. Dont buy a remake for a new console. Look at RDR rerelease, that was the biggest scam from rockstar and nobody should ever buy it.
Go download a copy of it if you want to play it or even better go buy the original and the console it plays on as itll be cheaper than the stupid price they qre scamming you with.
They said the rerelease is a exact copy, nothing new. Just modded to work on the newer console. Nothing added, nothing fixed just a new boot file so itll run.
Thats a huge scam and not worth the new game price for a 10yo game.

Let's see how much soul will this one retain from the original.
Why the negative tone?
Remake was better than the original.

Depends how you look at it.
The original RE4 for Gamecube didn't have Separate Ways in it, at all, it only had Mercenaries and something called "Assignment Ada", which was just Ada going through the normal island portion of the main campaign but collecting 5 Plaga samples.

Separate Ways was added later on when RE4 was ported to PS2, to add more of a bonus content for the late release, but the PS2 version was frowned upon due to having worse quality overall from the original Gamecube release, and this is clearly visible in the game's 3D models for enemies and also in 3D environments and lighting effects.

Then came the Wii version, which was basically the Gamecube one, but with the bonus content from the PS2 version added in. This was basically the defacto way to play RE4 back in the day before the HD releases and everything else. The only downside was that Separate Ways retained the awful cinematic's quality from the PS2 version.
All other versions that came afterwards are based on the Wii release to some extend.

So yeah, it wasn't originally there, and it was only added later, so it makes sense that they handled this way as a DLC for the remake. and by the $10 price tag, it's really cheap tbh.
All in all, I was really looking forward to this, be it update or DLC, ever since I finished the game back in March.
With both Separate Ways and Ada & Wesker being added to the Mercenaries, the remake will be almost up to pair with all the content that was there in the original, if not even more due to the Remake having some extra flare here and there, and Luis not being playable at all in the original, while it is playable in Mercenaries in the Remake.

The only thing missing from the Remake, if one were to be picky about it, would be Assignment Ada, but to be honest that side content was so meandering and meaningless that it doesn't really matter in the end. They could very well implement Assignment Ada as an actual mission within Separate Ways itself, which is what the dev team from the original should have done as well. If Remake's Separate Ways does it, then there's no need for Assignment Ada in any capacity.
