Is there a later version with arm9loaderhax than: release_a9lh_ 012a9c2? Just wondering.

This version works great on my arm9loaderhax o3DS.

Probably a noobish question, but I just modded my 3ds/2ds's yesterday so I fit the bill..

Can I safely use this if I'm already using Cakes on 10.7 emuNAND?

I think I just updated from 2.6 to the latest Nightly (rxTools_2016-03-12T20-38-04) by just putting the updated rxTools-folder onto my SD Card and it seems as if it worked because I get the initial screen, asking me to boot Emunand, Sysnand or Pastamode. I decided to boot Emunand automatically which also seems to work and I'm able to start at least one of the games.

What puzzles me however is that I don't find any option to decrypt the ncchinfo.bin created by the 3DS Simply CIA Converter (this one). I tried starting Pastamode which led to a blackscreen and an automatic (re?)boot into Sysnand. Where do I find this option and is fixing the Pastamode necessary?
Edit: Nevermind, this is the old DevMode from rxTools 2.6...

My system is and O3DS XL running 7.x which worked perfectly fine with rxTools 2.6 (was able to decrypt ncchinfo.bin and play games).
Edit: I installed the MSET downgrade and used this way to launch rxTools 2.6. I didn't change a thing on this part when upgrading to 3.0.

Edit 2: I did some further reading and found out that Xorpad-generation was kicked out of rxTools and now Decrypt9 is "the way to go". However this required Homebrew Launcher which I don't have. Looking at the list for HBL entry points and smea's site only the browser looks feasible for me although I don't want to enable WiFi on Sysnand to prevent any update nags and using this entry point seems to require the usage of browser everytime I want to launch any homebrew app, meaning every time I want to use Decrypt9.
What I found to be a possible solution however is using the DevMode/Pastamode from rxTools to use the FBI injected into H&S to install the HBL.cia (as announced here) and have Decrypt9 renamed as boot.3dsx on the SD card. Would this work on 7.x? At least in my mind this would allow me generate Xorpads from Sysnand without enabling WiFi and still use rxTools launching via MSET.

@simply mod Decrypt9 can be accessed via it's own launcher.dat through the go.gateway-3ds.com URL. Or MSET.
But it may work on the HBL on 7.x? Not sure, I'll check.

Well it doesn't mention anything about what *hax version it works on but it does say that it can be used on 9.2 or below, so I assume it would work on Ninjhax 1.1 through Cubic Ninja.
I believe the HBL.cia only works with *hax 2.x, so that won't work on 7.x Sysnand IIRC.

Thanks for clarifying the first two possible entries. However these don't seem desireable for me as I don't want to enable WiFi and I also would like to keep MSET for rxTools.

The HBL-CIA-possibility still remains unless someone points out some false assumption I made.

Check my edit.
To expand on that, it says here that the HBL cia is "for booting the *hax payloads" from https://smealum.github.io/3ds/, which are *hax payloads that only work on 9.0 and above.

Thanks for pointing out that dependecy. I just checked the "otherapp" payloads on smealum's site and they are only available for 9.0 and above.
So given my wishes (not using WiFi on Sysnand and using MSET for rxTools) I'm out of luck.
So it seems as if I need to upgrade to 9.0-9.2 and use MenuHax to launch rxTools and then use MSET for Decrypt9 or use HBL with the otherapp payload. Do you think this would work?

Thank you very much for your patience, your knowledge and your help! :)

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
