My ip changes everyday so... /:
if you can't make a UI for IP selector, just reading a config file that the user can edit manually could be used instead.
hexediting the elf works too, in case your website is offline, so there's always a solution.
I'm done
...too tired to even think about Linux and OS X right now though

Is this what I would use to use cheats in new super mario bros u? If so how?

You could use this, though you might be better with normal TCPGecko from loadiine.ovh. I'm not familiar with NSMBU, so I can't give you instructions on how to use cheats there.

Neato! I'd bet a lot of users here would use and appreciate a companion 'SDGeckiine' for Smash Bros as well.

That definitely seems possible. I could make it, however, I will not be able to test it because I don't own a copy of Sm4sh U.

@OatmealDome, I've updated this to have a selectable IP address. I'm posting the elf now, and I'll send a pull-request on GitHub for you, if you want to commit it to your repo. The IP address stays in memory, as long as you keep geckiine in memory. So you only have to select it once. Then every time an app or game starts, the menu will pop-up, and you will just press A, and not have to select the IP again. To take geckiine out of memory, you just reload HBL. If it says race attack failed, reloading kernel, then just reload the kernel like you normally do. geckiine will be out of memory then.

Download the new version through the Homebrew App Store using the wiiubru.com server.

I will merge on one condition, and that is that you take all versions of geckiine off the internet that do not have the proper credits. I have been told that the version of geckiine you have in the attachments have been stripped of the credits in the meta.xml file and that the only name there is yours. I cannot confirm this because I can't download it right now, but I trust my sources. (Of course, I will add you myself to the list after merging the PR.)

I was using the xml version that was used with HBAS. If you have a different version, I did not know this, but you are credited in the xml file of mine as the author. If you want credit in the xml under the long file description, that is no problem with me, like I said, I just modified the xml file that I had and added that I put the IP selector in.

In fact, on the IP selector screen, it clearly says, "geckiine by OatmealDome" at the top.

I think the problem may be that people are only reading the long description, and it's very easy to change that long description to include you, if that's want you want, but it originally had no mention of you in it, so I would have no reason to know you wanted your name in the long description.

I also have no access to the xml file used on wiiubru.com, but I am just now informing pwsincd to changel the xml to include you in the long description.

At any rate, you're welcome for getting it added.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Me and everyone else on our private Discord thought you were the one who destroyed the original meta.xml.

I want the *full* credits in the wiiubru.com meta.xml. More preferably, I want the *original meta.xml file from the repository* there. I personally think that every one listed in the README.md file (Maschell, dimok, NWPlayer123, amibu, seresaa, /u/MachMatic, andv466) deserve to have their names there and that they are much more important than myself.

Ok, that's no problem, do you have a link to the original xml file? I was just using what I had. I will definitely make sure that the app store on wiiubru is fully updated with the new xml too.

Just as soon as pwsincd or vgmoose come back on IRC, as they are the only ones who can update that stuff.

I will commit a new meta.xml to the GitHub repo under meta/ after the merge.
You know what, now I feel like an idiot, because I just realized that you had the meta listed in the source code. I was working on this for a few hours last night and it was getting late, and I had previously downloaded the elf through the HBAS, so I thought that was the xml file for it. I am sorry, I was tired and really did not mean to do that.

I will make sure I have a talk with some people about the change to the xml file. It should have never been changed that much.

Edit: Makes no difference now I suppose, it's just been re-released under the GPL that your original source code had. Once again, you're welcome.

@OatmealDome , my apologies , it was me that modified your original meta , it wasnt malicious , in fact i was impressed with the app and added to our repo , prior to the appstore being released (if you recall my messages to you). The meta mod was done to remind me that this app wouldnt run from my server without prior use of your server to patch the file... really what i am saying is it slipped through the net on release of the appstore and wasnt intentional.. again my apologies.

Maybe you could also copy my ip reading from my SD Cafiine version.
https://github.com/Maschell/SDCafiine/blob/master/src/patcher/function_hooks.c#L119
I wasn't the one who wrote it though. I left all that stuff up to OD, but I'mma have to look at that anyway for... reasons

I don't think there's much of a problem anyway now that brienj did his thing

Once again, you're welcome.
You started a whole lot of unnecessary drama with that line
We just wanted the stuff back dangit, if it was something you weren't even aware of it wasn't even an issue
And by the way, most of us were grateful for what you did, other than the credits bit. We just wanted the credits back.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
