FesTool is a Wii U homebrew application that allows Splatoon users to participate in custom Splatfests by replacing the Splatfest files the game uses with custom ones downloaded from our server. Nintendo has stopped running official Splatfest events, so we wanted to host our own.

Warning regarding bans from FesTool:
Like mentioned on the warning screen in FesTool, there is a ban risk if you use this tool, since we're not using custom servers and are only activating Splatfest mode with custom settings. We've played testing matches and there's currently no automatic banning system in place, but if Nintendo decides to implement one later on, you could be banned by using this tool. You're agreeing to use the tool at your own risk; we're not responsible for bans.

Do not use the Splatfest Tee in anything but Splatfest Battle, or you could be banned!
We've set up a Splatfest discussion channel and two channels for the two teams of the custom Splatfest where team members can chat on our Discord server. You can use a command to give yourself a role that can access your team's corresponding channel. Announcements regarding the custom Splatfest and other things related to Splatoon modding will be posted there including the final results. We'll also be providing help with using FesTool there if you need it. So if you want to participate in the custom Splatfest, you should join.

FesTool is pretty simple to set up and use. FesTool will only really be useful to run when a Splatfest has started, but you can set it up ahead of time. If you run FesTool before a Splatfest starts, you'll see a voting board where you can choose your team and possibly trucks (depending on how close it is to the Splatfest start time), but you won't see the plaza and maps at night and you won't be able to play Splatfest Battles. You can only play Splatfest Battles with FesTool when a Splatfest is happening (dates/times above under the "Splatfest info" section; announcements regarding upcoming fests will be in our Discord chat).
If you find any issues with FesTool, please report them to us on our Discord (link above under "Discord chat").
Your Splatfest Power will automatically keep resetting to 0. This is normal, and was implemented because it helps participants get matched by the matchmaker.
Even though this is a modded event, cheating mods (weapon hacks, fly hacks, etc.) are not allowed! We want this to feel like an official Splatfest. You can report cheaters to us on our Discord with their NNID.
DO NOT USE THE SPLATFEST TEE IN ANYTHING BUT SPLATFEST BATTLE, OR YOU COULD BE BANNED.

FesTool instructions

Requirements
- Recommended: SD card + SD card reader for your PC
- If you don't have an SD card or an SD card reader for your PC, you can still run FesTool directly through the Internet Browser. However, this method is unstable and sometimes your Wii U will freeze trying to load the tool. Therefore, running the tool from an SD card is recommended.
- Wii U on FW 5.5.1 (latest)
- Splatoon
- FesTool does not support digital Splatoon copies on USB drives due to a bug with the IOSU exploit, so if you're using Splatoon on a USB drive, you will need to transfer it to your Wii U's internal storage in System Settings before you can use FesTool.

Setting up your SD card

If you don't already have the Homebrew Launcher on your SD card:
- Format your SD card to FAT32 if it's not already in that format.
- Download the latest homebrew_launcher.v1.x.zip under the latest Release v1.x (not v2.x) here: https://github.com/dimok789/homebrew_launcher/releases
- Extract the homebrew_launcher.v1.x.zip file and move the extracted "wiiu" folder onto the root of your SD card. Your SD card should look like this:
- <SD card>/wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/homebrew_launcher.elf
- <SD card>/wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/icon.png
- <SD card>/wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/meta.xml
- Download FesTool from here and extract it.
- Drag the extracted "wiiu" folder onto the root of your SD card.
- If you don't have an SD card and as such are using the unstable method:
- Open the Wii U Internet Browser and navigate to http://oatmealdome.me/splatfest.
- Hopefully, FesTool will load. If your console freezes, power it off and try again. It may take a couple of tries.
- If you have an SD card and are using the preferred method:
- Open the Homebrew Launcher on your Wii U.
- If you don't know how: Open the Wii U Internet Browser and navigate to http://loadiine.ovh/, tap the drop down menu, choose "Homebrew Launcher 1.4 (5.5.0 - 5.5.1)", and tap "Submit".
- In the Homebrew Launcher, launch FesTool.
- Open the Homebrew Launcher on your Wii U.
- Read the warning screen and press A if you agree.
- After the Splatfest files are downloaded, select the first option unless you want you use cafiine mods. In that case, select the second option and enter your computer's IP address.
- Splatoon will launch. Remember: Don't use the Splatfest Tee in anything but Splatfest Battle! Cheating mods (weapon hacks, fly hacks, etc.) are not allowed!
- Simply exit Splatoon from the HOME menu (NOT by powering off your console) to get out of Splatfest mode. FesTool will revert its changes and exit itself. When you're back at the Wii U menu and you relaunch Splatoon, you'll notice that the custom Splatfest is no longer in effect.
- However, if you power off your console instead of exiting Splatoon from the HOME menu, FesTool will not be able to revert its changes. When you restart and enter Splatoon, you'll still see the Splatfest, but your match results won't count for your team's score until you restart FesTool.
- If need be, you can manually delete the Splatfest data by going to Data Management in System Settings and deleting the "Shared Save Data" for Splatoon. This is only the Splatfest data, so deleting it won't affect your regular Splatoon save data.
- To start playing in Splatfest mode again after exiting FesTool, re-launch FesTool (if you forgot how, just look under the "Getting into Splatfest mode" section above).
