I personally think it is disgusting if development time is spent on drm, we are currently supporting you @Exzap with over $1500 dollars a month we aren't paying you to necessarily get the next version early but to support wii u emulation to progress - don't be blinded by $$$$ by a few hundred pirates that will be impossible to stop without deneuvo ultimately.

    From a veteran like me...

You all who complain about exzap and his team. Shut up!
You who complain are nothing more than pirates who probably used the leaked 1.4.1 version. And thought a DRM never would hit your face yesterday. If you like cemu, the dev team and the progress of it. Donate... Its 5$/Month.. If u can't afford it, i don't know what world you are living in..

Thanks @Exzap for the fantastic superb work/coding/testing and skills u are showing us!

I am a Creator, not a Patron, so I have that way over you and actually know what I am explaining.

Regardless if I am a Patron or not, he listens to everyone so that should be a large clue.
Just because he has gone to Patreon doesn't mean he left the community behind, it shows how willing he is to ignore it even more.

The fact you have no say in his decisions says a lot about how he makes decisions, similar to Nintendo.
He should listen to someone who has been there, far longer than he has.

Take a look at Naughty Shinobi on Patreon, they used to be a... well, certain kind of adult project, turned a complete 180 turn and lied to all of their Patrons, took their money, developed a demo and took it to Steam and publishers and gave their Patrons the finger.
It took a team of 4Chan users to find some hidden crap they were doing and exposed them, only 5 months later did the creators of Naughty Shinobi announce what 4Chan users discovered to be true.
This is the future of Patreon creators I am worried about.

Dishonest, purposeful lack of information, abusive toward Patrons and controlling things their way when it should be about everyone.

This is quite amusing though, you actually agreed to everything I just said.

Did you even bother to read my first post?

I can wait a week, that doesn't bother me at all.
My concern is his approach to this entire thing on Patreon as a content creator myself.

Pirates will be pirates, that cannot be changed... but Exzap became a creator on Patreon and has responsibilities to take care of.

    You know what,
    stop with this argument.
If I were you, Non-Patreon Supporters, just wait for 2 weeks for the Public Version. Besides, the Patreon Version is terrible than the next Public Version. So why bother making the Patreon Version free when you can just wait for 2 weeks for the Public?

As @JanetMerai stated, "Pirates will be pirates, that cannot be changed... but Exzap became a creator on Patreon and has responsibilities to take care of." and that responsibility is to avoid leaks on the Patreon Version. That's it.

Edit: First of, I actually support both paths. The path of removing DRM and the path of not removing DRM(I didn't even vote on my Strawpoll). But later on in the future, this will be normal as heck. I know that Leaking and Piracy are actually bad(it totally ruined my hype for the Pokemon Direct last February), but this doesn't end too good if you complain that the Patreon Version will release 1 week and the Public Version will release 2 weeks. I know it's unfair. But you gotta have to wait for it. If you are too impatient, just use the recent versions and play. If it's Smash Bros or Twilight Princess HD, getting a Wii U is the only way or just force your parents to buy it until they say "STOP". But hey, not every country has Nintendo Products(like Brazil or some South American Countries).

I never complained about Exzap, I even thanked him for his work.
The only thing I did was talk about his approach to Patreon.

Read my original post again perhaps to get the point?

I asked Exzap, not you Miguel, even you of all people should know that.
Read my original post again perhaps?

It is NOT "exzap and his team". Its just exzap and petergov, he don't wanna share the money with anybody else and he gets the free pass of "the project not going faster because I'm working basically alone".
Also, have you ever heard of monetary conversion? US$ 5 is not alot when converted to euro, but not everybody lives on Sweden, but may be alot of money depending of the country which other people live...

Why would you disparage their hard work with that statement? That kind of stuff can hurt morale and progress so let's keep that kind of stuff to yourself.

There were major advances in this latest release, which by the way is only 2 weeks after the last. Cache is huge! I'm been involved in emulation since the early days of N64 emulation and I've never progress like this in this amount of time, and on a current gen machine no less. Unbelievably impressive.

Just because the emulator is not perfect yet or maybe it took a few steps back, this in no way can be called "terrible".

You've got this all wrong! You are not paying for an emulator, you are showing your support by donating 5 dollars every month with the risk of not getting anything!
tl;dr: Your 5 $ a month is you showing YOUR passion for this emulator!

...Ok sorry to say that but i think many, many people don't understand what is Patreon... It's not a way to have à VIP Pass or other things. It's ONLY a way to support a project. Exzap decide to give like a GIFT or a reward ,you choose, if you support his work.

If everybody here don't stop thinks like "why not me" , "it's disgusting".... all you will have is exzap won't listen you, won't advanced like he advanced because YOU can't way or juged what he make with his time to OFFER to us this GREAT emulator...

It's simply amazing to see that.

It's not like , if you aren't patreon, you won't have it! You just wait 1 week and you have it.

Maybe patreon version must be secret, with that you will wait and when a new version of Cemu is public , it will be a suprise :)! No?

And for the DRM, for me it change absolutly nothing, and if Exzap use my contribution for that AND for others features , no problem , i support him 500%

That's the IDEAL way of work, and I that's the way the most Patreon project really work
But unfortunatelly thats not the way which Exzap is working with it, putting DRM in the project and not worring about saying why donate to the project can help the project improve.

Just a personal note to anyone who has misinterpreted what I have said.

I am not against Exzap and I know he is doing a good job at what he is doing, there's no doubt about that.

Many people think I am impatient, can't wait for the next version and complaining about him.
    None of this is true.

I work full-time, work on my Patreon project myself, have a team of my own and follow Exzap's work because it is interesting and the first of its kind that I have seen.

I'm a game developer myself and have nothing against Exzap.

What he is doing to his Patrons and the decisions he is making for his project affects me as a Patron and he should note what future Patrons would think of his tactics.
He can do whatever he wants, that's a given, but I am the only one who seems to understand Patreon more than just the standard 'give me money' spiel.

I'm also a creator and have been there longer and I am giving him advice to help him, so don't take it the wrong way.

Anyway, I do like what Exzap is doing and have no disheartened intentions and all of this was meant as my Patronage, not everyone else'.

With that being said, I only look forward to what Exzap has to tell me or let me know, not what the Internet wants me to believe.

Do you even understand what Exzap is even doing?
This isn't a donation, its a paid service.

What you are describing is what Patreon is meant for, Exzap is telling you to pay a service of $5 a month to support his development and he doesn't even bother to share what he is doing or how he is doing it.
I am simply repeating what I said earlier but times are changing on Patreon and so are Patrons.

Eventually, people are going to wise up and leave... its not like Patrons don't voice their opinions.
Look at this forum and what people are saying, this stretches beyond just Patreon.

Ik. But the Patreon Version is different to the next Public Version. So I considered it as "terrible" even though it just made a big achievement. But who knows, maybe 1.4.2 Public can boot other games than 1.4.2 Patreon or maybe not.

    So yeah.

Yall are missing the point, he is not you. he does things the way he wants it. the constant complaining ain't gon' do much except fill the thread with a bunch of children complaining about DRM. You can thank the people who decides to crack the emulator for that. Patrons were meant to get the early release, and Patrons only. so he decided to act on that and made a system to prevent people outside of the patron group to use it.

    He's right you know.
I find hateful messages about what I do on Patreon myself and I have to take it with a grain of salt or consider the fact I am doing something wrong.
Its a process few people are able to understand.

Be patient, this kind of thing takes a lot of time to develop.
I'm not a programmer, although I use to be, but I do deal with programmers and programming slightly as an artist myself so I understand what Exzap is going through.

Heck, its literally his full-time job to program Cemu.
