ReiNX absolutely can install updates and DLC. Use TinFoil to install the retail NSP of DevMenu, then use DevMenu to install whatever update or DLC you want.

You can just use Devmenu for updates + dlc. I dunno if Devmenu works on Reinand yet, as I just use Hekate+sigpatch+layereFS, which allows Tinfoil and Devmenu.

It's not fake, its just the nro with tx service calls patched out which includes license check, pro status, etc.. nothing really important afaik. Think i need to modify my loader tho to get games not to crash.
