Maybe there'll be a new "beta" before it's been a year...
I guess not.

I really wish RawkSD wasn't dead. Sigh.

I just don't understand why there is not a formal announcement?

To Whom It May Concern,

No.

Yours sincerely,
King God tueidj

Am I the only one here who doesn't understand that? If Rawksd is dead, then this thread should be locked.

Exactly! If the thread is NOT locked, then it's either on hiatus, or being worked on. Or they could be trolling us...

Or it could be that nobody really knows and there's no need to lock a thread unless it's been requested or getting out of hand... or maybe we're all just bored waiting for the release and BSing... wait, that would basically be option #3 above...

It's not dead, it's being rebooted.
It's not only dead, but it's smelling real bad, too.

Too bad the "developers" just couldn't be bothered to just release a version without the stupid expiration.

Hey I just got RawkSD 3 Beta and I can't for the life of me get Guitar Hero 3 tracks to work. I tried importing them with 3, didn't work, tried using RawkSD 2, didn't work, nothing works yet everyone else doesn't seem to have any problems. Does the RawkSD 3 beta on the Wii not support .chart formats or just plain not support Guitar Hero 3 yet? The songs show up in the menu, but when I play them, my Wii appears to freeze. Does it just take a really long time to load? I waited about 30 seconds after it froze and decided to turn it off. One last thing, I have the Wii running on 4.3, so I can't use RawkSD 2 on it. Any help would really be appreciated!

I somewhat remember some issues with guitar hero 3 as well. However, that was because I had the rips from earlier (rawksd2). After I reripped it, things were fine. Perhaps there was more to it, but if so, it's somewhat buried between the "OMG WHY ISNT THIS PROGRAM UPDATED ANYMORE WHIIIIIINE" posts. Try looking at my posts in this thread somewhat in the beginning of this year, as I posted all my progress here, exactly because I don't have to remember it afterwards.

You can also skip the "yet" in your post. Rawksd isn't being developped any further.

Finally: the firmware version doesn't matter on a wii. Unfortunately, rawksd patcher that comes with rawksd2 installs the latest IOS37 (v5663 at the moment) instead of the one rawksd2 can use: IIRC, that's v3869. Also IIRC, you should use a program like MMM or dop-mii to install that version and apply all patches to it.

I'm having a few troubles while playing some songs. I have about 10 custom songs on my RawkSD, but two of them get kinda glitchy during the playing. They're both ripped from previous RB games. I put all the tracks in a multitrack ogg with each track's left and right on separate channels. For example Guitar = 1+2, Bass = 3+4, Drums = 5+6, and so on. I have 3 multitrack customs, but the two from previous RB games are the ones that mess up. When I'm playing, about 15 seconds in, the game freezes for half a second with the audio continuing and then unfreezes. When it unfreezes, the audio returns to where it was post-freeze... if that makes any sense.

If the song went "i like pie a lot" it would happen like "I (freeze) like pie (unfreeze) like pie a lot"

I'm stumped on how to fix it. Does anyone have any ideas?

If they are ripped from previous RB games why are you doing anything with the multitrack .ogg? The app does everything for you. You "fix" it by re-ripping the songs and not messing with them.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
