Hacking R4 DS SDHC not working

I'm going to give away this card to my friend since don't have any use of it. It's not been used in a long time and i don't remember how i made i to work. I think it's a pirated R4 if it matters any. Problem is that i only have possibility to try it on my 3DS, since i don't have DS lite anymore, and DSL is what hes using.

Is there any way for me to make it work on the 3ds at the same time as it works on the DSL? Otherwise i can't tell if it works or not.

I have formated the sd card (quick) and put the files in the root. "Error" msg comes up when booting on the 3DS.

This has the basic info on how to update firmware for flash carts in order to make them work on the 3DS, and yes they should still work on the DS/Lite after being updated.
