Is going to the data management of the wii, and erasing the channel the same as going to WAD manager and uninstalling it?
Are there any notable differences? Thanks.

uninstalling the wad also deletes the ticket.
so some programs like "remove dvdx present" (i think thats what it was called) won't think that you have pirated vc games(if you installed them with the wad).

i just always remove it with the wad, even though i dont pirate vc or wiiware games.

Deleting the channel from within the Wii can leave traces, and occasionally tickets still installed in the NAND.

By deleting thru the Wad program you installed with, its guaranteed to remove exactly the same components it installed to your system. This is the recommended method.
