I still didn't installed it, i will continue tomorrow because it's getting very late now.
So, why people are downloaded to 3.55 if the new hack allow direct install of cfw to 4.82?

Theres really no point going back to 3.55 you'll just end up with new games not being able to run and will require more fixes that are specifically for 3.55 to play them.

Most of those options aren't useful to standard users, which most people here seem to be. Giving them access to those items may actually be a bad thing if people decide to mup about with settings they know nothing about.

There's really not much of a difference between Rebug and Ferrox aside from Rebug having Webman integration[Play games from XMB] and allowing Cheat Plugins [Enable/disable cheats ingame] similar
to Xbox360 Jtag or NTR CFWcheat function. But yeah the rest of the stuff is for advance dev-like users that can potentially harm the system. I enjoy rebug b/c its been my main CFW for 4 years, so it's just preference for veteran JB users

Well I installed rebug and everything still works so I'm happy. May take a look at some of the advanced features down the line, but for now just going to enjoy playing backups and watching mkvs.

After getting nothing but "data is corrupted (8002XXXX)" errors while trying to install CFW for the last 4 hours I formatted my PS3 (after backing up), still getting the same corrupted message. I got the NOR dump no problem but the exploit doesn't seem to ever actually work after successfully triggering (beeping three times and shutting down). Tried multiple CFWs, USB is in the right slot. I get stuck on either 73 or 74%, every single time.

Anyone have suggestions? This is really maddening.

That means you don't have the files in the correct place. Make a new folder called "htdocs", then move everything except the miniweb.exe into that folder.
