Okay the game works without any freezes but I'm missing some sound. No voices during cut-scenes etc. Any ideas!?

I'm playing the NTSC version on a japanese Wii with CFGloader.

The game only uses the language set in the wii settings. You can try this Ocarina code:
http://geckocodes.org/?c=RPWZ41
and then try to force english language.

Ok, tried that, got a black screen. Game won't start at all!

WiiPower, giantpune was saying that the Ocarina code can only work if you have a USB Gecko. Is that correct in your experience?

@DS Panther: Try forcing English for language in the game settings.

I don't have the game, if he says that, i think it's true. Then forcing english language will not work, because the protection against .dol manipulation will freeze the game. Is there some priiloader hack to change the language to one that the system menu does not support?

Unfortunately, just like WiiPower already wrote, it didn't work.

Incidentally, the USB Gecko patch works by blocking out a checksum function. That function appears to run during the game launch sequence after the logos (where the black screen occurs). When you try to patch that function with Ocarina or manually in the loader, the game immediately black screens instead. This means they likely have another function which tries to verify that the checksum function is still valid. USB Geckos allow it all to work as they patch the game after that first verification is performed.

If somebody could find that function which verifies the checksum code is intact, then we would could patch that and have a solution. Unfortunately, I don't have a USB Gecko so it won't be me trying to find it.

Another alternative is to find a buffer overflow exploit, as the game never checks the data segment, but that's easier said than done.

adding a delay before executing the code works here as a work around atm too
Can you do that without a USB Gecko?

The Code is running with neogamma and WBFS partition with usbgecko.
Neogamma and uloader works fine with wbfs partition and main.dol manipualation. uloader has no wiird support

1. There's another(in my eyes) better method now to boot the game:
Use latest configurable usb loader or latest NeoGamma + included .wip file for it

2. -1022 indicates a problem with the wad or the sd card. You may want to try another sd card.

Did they update it for PoP? If not, it won't work, because GX does a patch that allows to play games without a disc in the drive. Any patch other than the one to get the game to work cause the game to crash.

SO then, if i patch the game's DOL file directly from the ".ISO" would it work then thru usbloadergx?

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
