So I was following this tutorial: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-4-(Old-3DS)

I got up to the last bit where it says:

17. Go to the "NAND Backup & Restore" option, then flash the 2.1 Unbricked NAND to your SysNAND by restoring SysNAND from emuNAND.bin
18. Cross your fingers
19. Reboot

And I have a permanent black screen.

What I did:
after using sysupdater and sucessfully downgrading to 2.1, I booted into sysNAND and launched HBL through menuhax. I then backed up 2.1 emuNAND and called the file NAND_emu.bin, after this I pressed sysNAND by restoring NAND_emu.bin.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do? I have a hardmod if that helps, thanks a lot.

On 2.1 some crap on the card from newer firmwares stops it from booting.
either delete the data or since you only need to be on 2.1 for a couple of boots, just eject the sd each time.
Doing so will not fix anything else unless it's menuhax related.

... Forgot about this until after I already wired a hardmod up to a 2DS.
(It should turn on if no card reader is attached yet) -boots up fine- (good) . . . (wait... it's not bricked?!)

Remove the SD (everytime you're going to turn on your console that is in 2.1)-BOOT-Insert SD and proceed to the next step
