I just thought it'd be interesting to see how many people here are holding back on their firmwares, waiting for a potential hack (or for their flashcard to work on the latest one).

EDIT: Hey, how is there 7 votes, yet only 1 view... :wtf:

EDIT2:
I'm on 5.1 or whatever the one just before 6.0 is, and I'll be staying on it until I update my R4i Gold card.

V5.1.0-11 until my DS cart gets an update for V6.0.0 or if that doesn't happen until there's an update worthy enough of losing it.

I have a DSTWO and is working fine after updating the card and then the system to 6.0.0-1x. Waiting to buy a Gateway to see if they are going to be permanently blocked or you can update them like the DSTWO. I like to be able to purchase games but nothing is coming out here in the near future so I may wait to update the system again to see what the Gateway does. Unfortunately, they delayed Mario Golf and that was the newest game I am looking forward to.

Eshop and online for legit gaming is great. I can use a flashcart on a DS Lite whenever I need to plus I have a EZ Flash 3-in-1 to go with it. The limited state of DS mode flashcarts on 3DS is just not cool enough to avoid updating.

And for only 4 times the price of the other carts, I don't have to keep buying them again!

What a bargain indeed!

And dont forget all the other features in JUST the updating process in general (offloading data to SD, update even if blocked if desperate), plus the built in CPU, etc.

When I get a DSTwo, ill move off of 4.x.

Yes you do. If a hardware difference is blocked that matches your card it still becomes obsolete no different. Cheap ones just take longer to roll out software updates.

It has yet to permanently block the DSTWO requiring a new model to be released. I don't think that can be said about any other card so far, can it? Sure it may not be 100% block-proof, we don't know yet. But it has the best track record and the best team behind it out of any single other card on the market to this date.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
