ROM Hack Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver problems?

I hate barging in while everything is getting out of hand. But, I was able to get the patcher that was linked from the French website http://codlab.1allo.com/nds/coaa.html to work and I dunno if I can help. I kind of feel like I'm adding on to the useless posts that are already all over this board. Sorry if I am. But,
The folder included what I think was the Rudolph patch. It itself obviously didn't work, but the .bat file was able to take my clean English Rom and apply something to it.
Thing is, it was able to patch my game, but it made the whole thing go weird. There were Japanese characters all over the place in the start-up menu and random words under the main menu icons. And the game crashed when I tried opening the Pokedex. (The very first thing I did)
But my point is that it was able to completely edit my U rom with the patcher even though it seemed to have a copy of the rudolph patch for the Japanese version. I think whatever they have there might be on the right track somehow.
I was able to get the patcher to work by naming the (U) rom: ame_argent.nds
(the way it looks in the screenshots on the page)
Then I put the .nds file in the Rom folder and then used the patch.bat file. It then took a minute or two to apply everything and it made a new file named rompatchee.nds
(I tried using some guess work and the little bit of french I remembered from high school)
Hopefully this helps a bit and isn't a complete waste of a post. But hey, at least it's better than half the garbage that's up anyway. I'm at least trying.

So, just created an account here so as to clarify some things with this french patch and with french version of HG/SS.
This patch is just a translation patch for Japanese version, so there's no point trying to make it work on the US version, cause it obviously won't.
I've also seen some people saying French version didn't have any AP. This completely wrong, it surely has. I'm playing on it (I'm french, so...), and I assume it freezes exactly the same way the US version does.

I've been sifting through the codes in the rom for hours now trying to find some new leads, with little to no sucess.
My eyes are now bleeding so I'm gonna take a break for a while. Good luck to the other coders trying to find it.
If no sucess ill go back to hurting my head more in a few hours.
sidenote: it would help so much from my point of view if people stopped posting nonsence/telling people to stop posting nonsence, took me 20 minutes to sift through the crap before writing this

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.+1

You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60
