I just switched to Luma3DS and I don't see any difference between this one and RxTools.
I just have a question : Is it normal that "Ver. 11.1" is written in System Settings? Will it only update the EmuNAND anyway?
Thanks!

It depends on your Luma settings. If you did not check "Show current NAND in settings" in the Luma configuration menu, then "Ver. 11.1.0-34[E/U/J]" is the normal string. If you did have that checked, then it will say "Sys. 11.1 [...]" or "Emu. 11.1 [...]" depending on whether you use a A9LH'd SysNAND or EmuNAND.

If you use the latest nightly of Luma, you can customize this string to say whatever you want FYI by creating "customversion.txt" and placing it in \luma\ on the SD card.

For example: A9LH %d.%d.%d-%d%ls
Will show "A9LH 11.1.0-34U" instead of "Ver. 11.1.0-34U" [Normal 11.1 US string]
Note: It cannot be longer than 19 characters, including spaces.

See the official Wiki for more information on options. You can have it show "Emu. 11.1.0.34" (when using EmuNAND) if you enable "Show current NAND in settings"

Last edited by Rfire,
This thread reminded me that I need to set up a9lh+Luma on my sister's 2DS and get her off of rxTools.
She has to unwrap all of her out-of-region games on boot (which is a lot) and she once had her console crash when opening the HOME menu while playing a EUR-region game to check her friend's list, and she lost a lot of what she had been doing because of the crash.
I honestly should've switched her over to Luma a long time ago, all she has is issues with rxTools.

it barely makes a difference what cfw you use.
granted, luma is easier to set up (also because some versions of rxtools come with incomplete files) but if you have it working, it really makes no difference.

I've never had a crash while entering the HOME menu while playing an out-of-region title with Luma. I've never had to unwrap all my out-of-region titles after a reboot, either. I also didn't have a blackscreen when updating to the latest firmware from a fairly low one with Luma, but the day I set up rxTools I had that happen to me, and had to wait until the next day to fix it.

Currently backing up my emunand and I'll be using Decrypt9 afterwards. I'm intimidated by the downgrade to 2.1. I have a sysnand backup and probably can install hardmod, but hopefully it won't come to that. Wish me luck.

It might seem intimidating the first time around, but these methods have been tested and there's very little chance to brick if you follow the instructions.

brb gonna make an "It's time to stop" video with RXTools as the background.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Couple of years from now on, people are still using RXtools.
Much like there's still noobs on 3.55 kmeaw, 5.50 m33-5 and 7371 JTAG.
Why? because noobs are to scared to update, thinking they'd break something, or people just forgot they have a hacked console and enter back into the scene after a while.

It's a unavoidable problem.
About m33, is it really the same thing? On the PSP, you didn't really *need* to update, nor did you get update prompts or anything of the sort.

On PSP you had to find patched ISOs or patch them to work in 5.50 M33-X after the 6.XX OFW started to appear. The support to actually circumvent these AP checks were done on newer CFW.

Exactly that.
Why stick to an old outdated firmware when even the last firmware is hackable.
Especially people on phatty PSPs and hackable 2000's
It's just a matter of flashing ME or whatever firmware to your PSP.
Benefits of an updated FW and no need to patch ISOs or use dirty loaders.

According to the new bootntr thread, I should use a different a9lh.bin for luma. Would that cause problems with Plailect's guide?

I'm an rxtools user from way back when it was still under roxas. Honestly, Ive never switched solely because the only other real options were either just as buggy, or elaborate to set up (I'm looking at you, a9lh)

This thread did provide some useful info that I've never seen anywhere else, that luma could be ran without a9hl and setup is a breeze. So I'll be making the switch.

Hell, I might even do the whole a9hl process and get it done with for piece of mind

Guys Im using reinand newerst version I think ver4.1.
Ok, my first question is reinand outdate?
The second is what is A9LH? Sorry about my low knowlegde
