PLAY STATIONS vs. NINTENDO 64

QUOTE said:
I very strongly agree that the n64 is the better console on the market today. Sure maybe play stations have a few more games but the Nintendo motto has always been quality over quantity. Sony play stations uses cheap flimsy CDs meanwhile n64 uses strong cartridges that hold more memory and that let you save with out buying over priced memory cards.

The n64 today costs $199RRP and comes in a twin controller pack with two controllers. The Sony also costs $199 rrp but it only comes with one controller. N64 also comes with a lifetime warrenty so if anything breaks you can send it back to nintendo and they will get you a new one. Sonys on the other hand have a 12 month warranty. You can tell that the Sony is not built well and has poor quality. Nintendo also have better graphics than Sony. I don't understand why anyone would buy a playstation. One of the reasons is sony is looked on as being cool so people buy it to look cool.

Finally I believe computers will always dominate but Nintendo have been giving quality gaming for 10 years so Nintendo is the better buy out of the consoles.

What a little fanboy I was!

was digging around the house the other day and thought you guys might get a kick out of it. I have a feeling I was wrong about the carts holding more memory.

I play N64 games more now than before. PlayStation stuff has kinda dated a little for me, the only game I still play from time to time is Medal of Honour.

Sony did a great job on the PlayStation and I reckon they rejuvenated an industry that was controlled by a company like Nintendo who basically bullied everyone to doing stuff their way, and they forced its European gamers to pay extortionate prices for games during the SNES days. They just got a bit too conceited and set in their ways so that they pissed a lot of gamers off. The Playstation was the cool funky machine for everyone, something the casual gamer can just turn on for half an hour and play after work while the N64 was the pricey geeky gamers machine.

Its funny to see the roles reversed today.

Anyway while the PlayStation has more good games, for me the N64 has more classics. The time and effort put into each of Nintendo's first party titles was amazing.

EDIT: PSX controller were terrible though, mine started clicking after a few months.

some incorrect facts but honestly, i love my n64 more than my playstation (although i still had some good times with the ps) even though my ps is modded and have heaps more games for it.

generally n64 does have better graphics capabilities than ps, however i believe it was difficult to utilise due to some other techincal limitation (ram or something i can't remember).

I loved my N64 so much back then, so many good times. Golden eye, mario, perfect dark etc. etc. played it for many many hours.

I guess I'm still a nintendo fanboy at heart

I remember when I asked my parents for a N64 after I saved up for ages.. I got back from school and there was a PS1 waiting for me.. Apparently the shop assistant convinced them what was best for their 10 year old child.

What's a Play stations? LOL.

I wanted an N64 at first but ended up buying a PS1. Best decision ever considering I modded the PS1. A few months ago I went through my pile of 194 PS1 games and threw out about half of them. Not sure why I ever rented and burned them in the first place. I mean, extreme skydiving? Okay, that's going in the trash can.

I mean, extreme skydiving? Okay, that's going in the trash can.

Why would the name it "Extreme" Skydiving? I mean how much more extreme could skydiving possibly get? You're plummeting to the earth thousands of feet in the air at god-knows how many miles per hour HOPING that your parachute will open. More importantly, what the hell could they possibly add to make it more extreme? "Today Jimmy, you'll be jumping out of a plane... WHILE ON FIRE!"

N64 only focus on kiddy games like mario (sorry i dont really own a N64)....while PSX focus more on mature games like Metal Gear Solid, Parasite Eve, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Dino Crisis and many more....

well i have own PS and PS2, and i'm getting a PSP end of this year....

BTW, the only Nintendo gamming product that i have is my NDS and i'm been regreting for getting one (thanks to Pokemon).....and i almost got my self a Wii, luckly a test play of Wii save me from it....I will never ever get a Wii unless they release a none Wiimote version.

No offense intended, bud. But you're probably on the wrong forum if you don't care for the DS or the Wii and think Nintendo is too kiddy.

Wait... you're that furry aren't you? You dislike nintendo because it's kiddy and you regret buying your DS

Why did pokemon make you regret buying your DS?

The PSX is a great console I was just a blind fanboy when I was 10 years old. I still like the N64 better though, more good times with its built in 4 controller ports

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
