Well.. today I've got my M3 Lite + Passcard 3 and a TF card..
I tested it right away.. everything OK
BUT THEN.. I tried Ninji (homebrew) and it loaded.. ok but it was stuck when the loadbar was full..
I waited a couple of second and then turned of the power..
And WTF !!
My Passcard 3 isn't responding !
It always says: There is no DS Card inserted

Plzzz help me

impossible that homebrew app killed your passcard.
clean the contacts of the passcard and ds slot1, try again.

homebrew has to be launched by pressing "start", not "a" button.

Thanx.. But that doesn't work
REally wierd.. it worked 2 times.. and then :'(
And a normal DS Card works.. so

Or it's the contact, or it's the Passcard 3 that's broke

Edit:
BTW.. when it worked.. I needed to choose 'Passcard 3' from the menu..
But when I see video's the Passcard 3 'software' automaticly loads when you boot it..
How is this possible ?

besides cleaning the contacts? nope, sorry.
try the passcard in another ds, if it doenst work there, send it back to winsunx and get a replacement.
or talk to them that it stopped working and you tried on another ds, maybe they send you a new one without you having to send it back, which, for me, would be to much trouble.

Since the passcard worked initially, it's most likely the contacts that aren't making good connections with the slot 1 contacts. If you can't get it to work after fiddling with it etc (find someway to make it fit tighter). I would exchange it from the seller.

My advice is, that if you get it to boot up again, Flash your DS with FlashME v7 so you dont have to deal with the mega battery power drainer that is the Passcard 3, and you can then throw it in the garbage.

"Mega battery power drainer?" Did someone do some scientific testing in the last month or two that I missed out on? Because last time I checked, I only lost half an hour.

Booting up and taking out passcard ftw for the lazy if you really need extra battery for a trip.

results vary, when I tested last on my navy blue, I lost a tad over half hour. That was enough of a reason to flash...though that was with a real slot1 retail game, wasn't with a passcard. But I'm assuming it's the same deal.

Only ways to brick a ds while flashing are 1) not following instructions/doing research 2) totally not having control of your hands 3) intentional. It's easy, read the guide on gbatemp here in the review section to satisfy your curiosity to how easy it really is.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
