The Steam version of the critically acclaimed Outlast is now available for free on Humble Bundle for a limited time of 48 hours. It also includes the extra story, Whistleblower. A DRM-free version is also available. The game supports Windows, Mac and Linux.

Because free giveaways aren't that uncommon, i'd imagine. Just in the last couple of months I've gotten red orchestra 2, dungeons 2 and abe's oddyssey for free (the last one just a couple days ago). And that's not even counting the regular give aways from ea or ubisoft.
