Game info

Dengeki Gakuen RPG is set primarily at Dengeki Academy, a Japanese private school that the main characters attend. The story revolves around an unnamed protagonist who one day hears a recent rumor that a ghost has been appearing during the night at school. While he does not have any real interest in the occult, he uses searching for the ghost as an excuse to sneak into the school campus one night. However, his childhood friend Kizuna Kasugai comes with him to search for the ghost, and the two decide to search around the bench in front of the campus store. In the silent darkness, the two gradually arrive to open the door of the store and before them they see a person's shadow move in the room. By straining his eyes, the protagonist sees that the person casting the shadow is eating melon bread, and realizes that this must be the cause of the ghost rumor; the shadow is in fact cast by Shana from Shakugan no Shana. This is possible due to one day the reality-based world of Dengeki Academy and the worlds of the Dengeki Bunko light novels to suddenly become connected allowing people from both the real-world and the novel worlds to cross over.

By meeting Shana, the protagonist and Kizuna become entangled in a struggle by the members of the novel worlds to protect their worlds from the unidentified evil organization known as Zetsumu who have been changing story details from the novel worlds and creating disorder in them. Their goal is "to snatch away the smiles from every person". In order to combat Zetsumu, the protagonists will help the fighters from the novel worlds by traveling between the real-world and novel worlds.

Offering: Nothing, but a thanks.. Sorry.
Hope this gets translated.
+1 here (or any other of the Sangokushi DS titles). heck, it doesn't even have to be anything but a simple menu translation. it just has to be legible enough. and yes, the kanji fonts will make text fairly difficult, but maybe a symbol system could be used instead, especially for the commands and stats (even acronyms could work; just include a readme of which acronym means what). i hope somebody notices these titles... Koei/Kou Shibusawa strategy titles are the best there are, and i don't think Spectral Force Genesis even comes close to simulating this incredibly complex game.

This game has intrigued me. I'll take some time to look at how everything is setup and decide whether or not it is a game I'd want to devote a lot of time to. From glancing at it quickly, it seems the majority of the game's file are stored within .packs, similar to what CN had to deal with for ToH but not identical (probably a different file format). I haven't checked the fonts yet. Anyways, no guarantees.

Is a pretty fun game. Lots of dialogue, so it'll be a fair bit of work, but at least its all using the standard display mode of the ds so you wouldnt have to try figure out any textbox hacks or whatever. It will be easy to translate too, as there wasn't much kanji from what I can remember.

Well yeah that's true, but the context was very easy to grasp most of the time. It's fairly 'shallow' (sorry can't think of a better word for it atm; I'm tired) even though it is text heavy. Of course, this is just my personal opinion. I find less kanji makes translation faster (depending on circumstances of course), but I've had a decent amount of experience with japanese context and thinking, having lived there for a time. Regardless, it will be a lot of work.

yeah, I requested this not so long ago myself.

You can play it without translation, it's just awkward.

If I had more disposable time, I'd be tempted to attempt the text grabbing myself, despite having no experience/knowledge of how at this time. I've also considered the possibility of a "pidgin Engrish" edition if I were the only one working on it, translating through google. Yeah, it's awful, but I'd still have a better time understanding than I do now.

Too bad Lux-Pain didn't do well, I really liked it~! It would be sad if this game doesn't get a translation.

So +1 xD

Well, the biggest hurdle is that the game only has double-byte characters and it doesn't use a NFTR font. So, although it is possible, no one has wanted to commit the time to the amount of work that it would take.

I'm really interested in this game but my ASM level is really too low ftm ^^
If no one will take this project seriously, I will. But not tomorrow...

I had looked at it several times and had been considering it. If their is a width table somewhere (doubt it, as it seems to be fixed width), then it would be easier. With fixed width you have few options. The most effective is to add a VWF using assembly hacking. The less effective, but possibly possible way, would be to use double characters per tile. Atlus did something like this for Luminous Arc 2. You essentially make a ton of new tiles with common two letter groups, such as ai, ea, etc. You then have to find where the character list is stored, a lot of the time it is in arm9.bin. This lists tells the game what tile is tied to what hexadecimal value. No matter how you look at it, it is a lot of work.
