One thing I see with that signCheck is that you're missing a lot of IOS (since the list is quite small)
But you can probably find a way out since there is a cIOS installed

All Wii's can be modded
And all of them can run USB loaders

How do I completely remove the Twilight Hack? I haven't messed with my Wii in almost a year now and wanted to get it as close to factory settings as possible before I hack it again.

Issue: Some Homebrew applications don't seem to like my usb drive

Symptoms: Wad manager 1.5 gives me an error= ret1 when trying to read wads off the drive
Mymenuify says there is an error reading files off the selected drive
mplayer_ce says it cannot find the folder (the folder is clearly in W:/apps/mplayer_ce)

Notes:
I know that wad manager WILL run off my sd card.
I am trying to run these apps WITHOUT an sd card in the slot
USB drive: 1TB Verbatim, one partition formatted to fat32 via gparted
Have tried reformatting, same issue.
Programs such as usb configurable loader and homebrew browser run fine

Any help would be greatly appreciated, id rather not have to switch back and forth between running homebrew apps off my usb drive and sd card

Thank you

Sorry for reposting (not sure if its against forum policy)
but does anyone have an idea on how to solve this issue? i can confirm that at the present moment it is only these 3 homebrew applications that are giving me errors, however all 3 work fine via my sd card.
mplayer_ce is the one id like to get to work the most, the other two not working i can deal with.

Sorry and many thanks again

Hi!

I tried to play my back up version of Kururin Squash (NTSC-J) on my PAL Wii using GC Backup loader but the Japanese text doesn't show. I get these strange signs instead (see picture)

IMAG0045-1.jpg

I have heard that this is because the PAL GC systems didn't have the Japanese character sets stored internally. Is that true? If so, is there any way I can install these characters/fonts on my Wii? I use the GC Backup launcher to launch the game. I have a YAOSM-chip installed as well, but I only get a black screen when using the normal disc channel to launch the game.

Also, is there any way to get color without buying a new TV? Got a CRT-TV right now.

Thanks

in resident evil: the darkside chronicle from usb, have played through a bunch of the missions but finally it gets to a particular cutscene, the cutscene freezes, and when i press A it sort of responds to the "skip cutscene" command by turning the screen black but it stays frozen. i've tried with hermes 222 and cios38 16 and 17, all have the same behavior.

i haven't found anything about this being a known issue in searching... it seems like really weird behavior. is it indicative of a bad rip or what?
is there anything in particular i should try?

all signs point to YES

try a different rip (best rips are from originals, so buy or rent the game and copy it using your preferred usb loader... or pirate another rip online and hope 4 the best)

try to use neogamma. set language to japanese. try to set video mode to force pal.

Thanks! It worked to get it in color, but I still get strange text instead of Japanese characters. Do you (or anyone else) know how to fix that as well?

Real noob question - please help, it should be an easy one to answer.
I just downloaded MPlayer CE v.76, and I'd like to set up the SMB feature. My entire K drive on my computer is shared, and I'd like to be able to access it via the Wii. How do I go about doing this? I'm hoping it's just a quick tweak of the SMB.conf file in mplayer's app folder, but I don't know exactly what I need to change or what to set it to. I had previously used an old xbox with XBMC installed to stream media, but the xbox is no longer with me. Thanks in advance!

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
