I think that removing the version from the screen on a program that changes about once a day is a bad idea.
I think that removing the compile date and time from the screen on a program that has muttiple custom builds is a bad idea.
I think that removing the messages from the screen that inform the user what the program is doing is a bad idea.
I think that relying on a log file in program whare you you cant guarente the write is actually saved to the media is a bad idea.
Quoted because I strongly agree.

The official Nintendont will never hide the version or verbose output. It's there for a reason. We aren't going to hide it because people don't like 5 seconds of text on the screen, and adding stuff like a loading bar would just increase loading time.

There are 2 small tweaks which i believe they are strongly needed as they sometimes make nintendont a stubborn.

First, multiple drive support: don´t be surprised, wii u strongly lacks on internal storage, most users do have a second drive (wii u formated) connected and it is annoying to disconnect drives every time we have to use the loader. It is not extemely inconvenient but it screams for a fix. This is not really multiple drive support but simply to be able to use nintendont with a second drive connected.

Second, remap the button which changes controller layouts: you see, the best (or more like THE ONLY) option to play multiplayer in nintendont with 4 gamecube controllers is to use mayflash adapters, the thing is, a single start button press is detected as a ´-´press which changes button layouts on the controllers, you seriously don´t have any idea how annoying it is as some games in which you have to press start often. I have seen your feedback, im not the only one who has pointed out this. You have overlooked the demand for this small tweak, the adapter might be third party, but we are talking about REAL gamecube controller support, 4 player multiplayer!; the mayflash adapter is by far the best setup to play with nintendont you can´t simply overlook this just because something doesnt seem extremely inconvenient and your agenda may show some more important stuff for you, you really have to be in the end user´s shoes, after all, its thanks to the positive feedback that you haven´t drop this project.

Again this is your project, you guys are the coders i was just providing my opinion.

^I agree with chaning the Start thing for Gamecube controllers. Maybe making it a button combo like Mnus and Plus = Change button combo to evade this issue?
Or another button in the Wiimote.

Did a little more digging, and it seems that others with Western Digital MyPassport USB 3.0/2.0 HDDs all have the checking fs issue.

OP here:

and OP and one commenter here:

The same people also mentioned their HDDs working just fine with DIOS MIOS.

Perhaps Nintendont has trouble with HDDs that are compatible with both USB 3.0 and 2.0?

Anyone had success with WD MyPassport USB 3.0/2.0s?

I have the fs lock up with 2/3 of my usb drives i've tested. The only drive I have that works is USB 2.0 only GIGAWARE. the other two drives are a patriot
  • "Hi Speed USB 3.0 Compatible (backwards compatible to USB 2.0)"
and Sandisk Fit Ultra "USB 3.0 enabled (USB 2.0 compatible)"
So has anyone had success using a USB 3.0 drive that is 2.0 compatible?

I have an 1TB WD MyPassport USB 3.0/2.0, WDBBEP0010BBK-01, with a primary partition (FAT32 32k cluster) for Wii and GameCube games, and a second NTFS partition for other data. I have no issues so far. It works for Wii games and Nintendont.

Good to know. I guess it's on me to troubleshoot this. What program did you use to format your partitions?

Ohh I love that Joostin is finally going to add an auto reset to the Nintendont loader. I have a few questions/requests for it

30 seconds is a bit long if it freezes. I'm just going to get up and pull the plug if it takes that long. Perhaps 10 seconds?

Is it going back to the wii menu or hbc when it resets?

and most importantly...can it reload Nintendont automatically when it resets (go back to when you pick sd/usb)

Hmmm, do you have another partition besides FAT32 partition? And the FAT32 one is a Primary partition? (not to confuse with "First partition" on the drive)

I agree with these suggestions completely.

Multiple drive support would be an update that I would love a ton, for exactly the same reasons that you outlined. The way I have the entertainment system set up for the family means that the external hard drives are hard to reach, so allowing for both the Wii U drive and the vWii drive to be connected simultaneously would be outstanding! I've looked at the updated first post and have seen the reason for the issue, but have no idea how challenging it would be for the developers to implement. I know nothing about Wii homebrew programming, so I haven't a clue how much needs to be changed for the Nintendont kernel to read the correct port when two drives are connected, but I can tell you that such an effort would be greatly appreciated in this household. Obviously game compatibility takes priority, but just letting the devs know that there is interest being this. :)

As for the second point, the problem there would be more directed towards Mayflash (why in the world would they choose to make one press be for select, and two for start.?), but I agree that it would be nice for the bluetooth code to accommodate for these users. I agree that a select+start combo to switch button layouts might be preferable, because that is easily possible on both the Pro and Classic controllers, which are the controllers where users might want to do this. It's not possible with Mayflash....but there's no reason to switch button layouts since it already has GameCube controls!

I need a guinea pig. Who here is having Nintendont "lock up" (for lack of a better term) when checking the FS?

People thought I was crazy... CRAZY but I posted about this crap a while ago and no one seemed to have answers. I kept thinking it was Nintendon't but everyone thought it was me. I aint crazy @.@ I noticed someone posted about this issue and figured I'd check up on it later.

The first post I made explained a lot of the steps I tried:
http://gbatemp.net/threads/nintendont.349258/page-894#post-5154347

I did a lot heavy testing yet nothing helped. I would gladly test anything to fix this issue.
