Yeah, but this has happened numerous times with their products. The Wii, The 3DS, the NEW 3DS, the Nes Classic, and now the Switch, all sold out within hours of opening day, least in my state. You'd think they'd increase their supply just a bit more this time.

Though I suppose launch console sales is never an issue for Nintendo. We'll need to just see how well they do in the future. Here's hoping we get a slew of first party games (mostly Metroid for me) to make up for the lack of 3rd party games we'll get, least in the first few years.

The Wii U failed because one, it used the Wii brand, which they tried once before and it hooked crowds, but people thought it was an add-on to the Wii. Confusion abound, people had no clue it was a new console. The software was also to blame, too many droughts, and not enough third party support. Bad ports from Ubisoft, AC3, AC4 and Watch_Dogs ran like shiz on the Wii U, for a console more powerful than the Xbox 360, there is no excuse for the <20 fps framerate. Had the console been marketed better, and ports being better optimized, it would've fared better IMO.

Nintendo: Switch is a home gaming system ‘first and foremost

Why everyone always use the handheld card to justify an weak, overpriced hardware with cheap gimmicky wiimote clones (a gimmick of a gimmick:creep:) despite Nintendo saying otherwise and them had previously agreed with that and the fact it was replacing the Wii u?
Does anybody here remembers the PS4/Xbone having hurdles to run PS360 ports as the Switch has with BoTW? Nope. Even Mario Kart 8 DLC Edition will look the same ass shit aliased game it looked on the Wii U.
So yes, Marginal is appropriate for this situation considering the Switch was supposed to be a generation ahead of the competition. Even the memory bandwidth of the Switch is almost as shit as the Wii U .
Launch never was a problem for Nintendo, did everybody here forgot how the Wii U sold out and managed same launch numbers as the Switch despite having to deal with a full year of bad rep from all the gaming media telling everybody it was just 2 duct taped together Wiis?
It had more Third Party support at launch than the Switch, and yet it failed 3 months later after the wave of fanboys was over.

Everyone here can only expect one thing: After the fanboy wave is over, if the Switch fails Nintendo will promptly kill the 3DS despite telling everyone they are still supporting it.

It just shows how badly the Wii-U failed. Many of the buyers are Nintendo fans and will likely not own a Wii-U and want to play Zelda. But with the upcoming software drought these sales will slow down soon.

In my opinion it is really sad that Nintendo left the home console business and that the mobile Switch is so much behind in terms of technology and cannot compete with even a standard PS4 at all. I want to play Nintendo games with modern graphics and in 4K 60FPS.

Thats implies that it's a handheld second. It's gimmick is "at home and on the go." Saying this thing isn't also a handheld is like saying "the DS won't replace the GBA!"

Not even PS4 or XBOX One can "really" do that except you talk about upscaled resolution ;)

Its a gaming handheld that can be docked. Or a home console that you can take with you as a handheld. Either way, the price and power is justified. Doesn't matter what YOU think. You're clearly just looking to start something.

Also, the Wii U and Switch are running two completely different hardware platforms. So, these "hurdles" you refer to make sense. It's like going from the original Xbox to the 360. 360 and Ps3 ports? Like?

If you're talking about backwards compatibility, then I'm not going to bother. PSNow and an emulated 360 on the one.

What would the switch failing have to do with the 3DS? That doesn't make ANY sense.

Are you serious? Nintendo was forced to port BotW over to the Switch because of the Wii U being a historical fail. And you forget one thing:
    WiiU: PowerPC, Switch: ARM
    PS3: x86, PS4: x86

Oh, and too bad for you, MK8 Deluxe runs at a perfect 1080p@60fps without any trouble.

    — Posts automatically merged - Please don't double post! —

There is something called Dolphin emulator. But to achieve your 4K@60fps, you need a GTX 1080. Yes. Dolphin has been ported to PS4, it runs at a merely 480p@5fps. How awesome! I am really pissed off by people who think PS4/XB1 is capable of 4K@60fps. You know what you need for this? A $2000 PC. XB1 and PS4 are merely 900p@25fps, PS4 Pro does 1080p@15fps with a bit of AA, and Sony calls that "4K". That's all.

I don't even have to prove you wrong when you keep proving yourself wrong. MK8 ran at 720p on Wii U and runs at 1080p60 on Switch. Same deal with Fast RMX.

PS4 and XB1 are forced into 900p (like BotW) all the time, and still struggle to maintain 30 FPS when the game uses an API they aren't optimized for. Nier: Automata is just one of the more recent examples. The severely scaled back PS4 version caused a lot of technical issues for the PC version. It doesn't even get to use form factor as an excuse. In other words, software optimization is probably more important to consoles than their hardware, as the hardware we already know is weak across the board. That's why it costs $300 and not $700+.

Re-read my post again: "Even Mario Kart 8 DLC Edition will look the same ass shit aliased game it looked on the Wii U". MK8 ran at 720p@60fps on the Wii U. Res bump on Switch, nothing else.

Something...PS4/Xbone/PC multiplatform... made by Platinum which also struggled to deliver Bayo2 exclusively on the Wii U at 720p running mostly at 40~50fps. I don't see the point in this comparison, even worse, comparing PC to Console?

"Doesn't matter what YOU think." That also is YOUR opinion.

I am not starting something, i just pointed out a bunch of facts and what i got back was 3 fanboys liking each other trying to justify paying $300 on a $200 Shield with crappy performance because it has the Nintendo logo.

It was and a lot, on the first sight of the Switch tanking on shelves the Nintendo lie of keep supporting 3DS owners will expose itself.:teach:

And the majority of the aliasing you were perceiving was likely due to the lower resolution, so there you go. We won't know what other graphical tweaks have been made to MK8D until it releases.

The point is it's hard to talk shit about a game running at 900p30 when that's pretty common across all consoles. PC is your only option if you consistently want greater than 1080p resolution without frame rate drops or low frame rate caps. If you're buying a console, any console, you're not buying it for power.

We do not have to "justify" our purchase of something we enjoy. And it is not a Shield. You are acting like an ass and clearly have no intent for meaningful discussion. Off to the ignore pit with you.

I've seen the pit. Find myself in there a fair bit. Oh well.

It's been made clear that there are a few people that have nothing to contribute that doesn't involve belittleling someone for their opinion. (Not that I'm exactly innocent)

Calling me an ass out of nowhere makes me believe a meaningful discussion was the least of your concerns and you are just unhappy that some are not circle jerking.

What circle jerk? The problems have all been acknowledged. The issues are people like you spouting random nonsense as fact without sources. Y'know? Overpriced hardware? Nothing to support. Not from you, or anyone. It's just a massive guess. You don't know anything about it, clearly. So you should, oh, I don't know. Move on?

No, lets not move on, lets have an discussion.
I am not spouting random nonsense, it uses the same soc as the $200 Shield, a Tegra X1...
    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/d...ssor-inside-switch-outed-as-standard-tegra-x1
Even the Die shots expose another Nintendo lie: It is not a custom chip, it is a 1:1 Shield TV X1 which costs..
    https://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-SHIELD-TV-Streaming-Media-Player/dp/B01N1NT9Y6
$200, and that is, with Nvidia's and Amazon's profit already included... Which makes the $300 Switch pretty overpriced.

    "But the Joy-cons"
Yeah, the Joy-cons, look at them:
    https://cnet4.cbsistatic.com/img/AN...6124b60bc/nintendo-switch-joy-con-board-2.jpg
Now look at a Wiimote board:
    http://diy.sickmods.net/images/SNC10735640x480.jpg
    https://www.sparkfun.com/images/tutorials/WiiRemote/Wii-Remote-5.jpg
Notice it? Yeah, less hardware, same functionality, which makes it even cheaper than the Wiimotes. And guess how much a Wiimote goes for nowadays? $16 with profit, less if you mass buy.
So a pack with 2 should cost at max $40, and guess how much Nintendo charges for them?
    https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Switch-Joy-Neon-Neon-Blue/dp/B01N6QJ58Y?th=1
    $80.

So now you tell me, is there anything left on Nintendo's Shield that is NOT overpriced? Counter fact my "random nonsense".

EDit: Ah yeah, there is the 3DS part. Nintendo once said they would support the Wii U until owners where satisfied. Well, we all know what happened after that right?

    ...

Even if the Switch uses the same CPU as the Shield, what makes you think Nvidia is not selling it at cost? They are not going to have a 25% profit on that thing if they are trying to get it in enough hands to sustain a big enough market for developers. The Shield launched at over $300, it has been discounted due to low sales.

And you cannot possibly think that bigger is better in technology. By that logic, a 1950's vacuum tube computer is superior to even an apple watch just because it took up a whole room. The Joy-cons can do everything the Wii motes can and - most importantly - they can do far more. The wiimote's ir sensor cannot detect hand movements, for example.

The differences are plain to see, but you're intent on your confirmation bias either way. Shield TV isn't a portable/hybrid, doesn't have its own screen. Shield TV is larger than Switch in length and width. Shield TV runs Android, which is a pretty poor OS for gaming. I've said it before, $250 is the minimum Nintendo could've sold Switch for at launch and made a small profit. $300 is definitely reasonable. There's no complaint about Switch's pricing that couldn't also be made about PS4/XB1, so the whole thing is pretty much moot.

And the tech in joy cons is almost entirely different from the tech in wiimotes, not to mention much newer, so there's no sense comparing them. Joy cons aren't even half the size of wiimotes, so of course their boards have to be smaller, but smaller does not somehow equal worse. That's stupid, don't be stupid.

Hell.. A single joycon has more tech in it than an entire Xbone controller. :P And just as much if not more than a PS4 controller.
