Before the update, the same website said that individual gamepads will be sold if there are games that support 2 gamepads.
Now they are selling them, with a statement saying the offer is intended for Wii U owners with lost or destroyed gamepad. Only 1 gamepad could be connected to a Wii U.
I hope they would release a gamepadless console (bundle with games do not require gamepad) and shave ~$100 off the console price. That will make the console $200 which is more affordable (But then no one will buy a $100 gamepad for Miiverse...)
