No, jailbreaking is a term Geohot made when he cracked the iPhone, and again with the PS3, its the name of his exploit. So the term "Jailbreak" should only be used for those devices...

Guys, the use of the term jailbreak is irrelevant to this topic.

In case this was not already clear:
-You CAN softmod your Wii U to play Wii games from a USB drive or SD card.
-You CANNOT currently play Wii U games without the retail disc or owning it on the eShop.

If you understand this and are ready to proceed with softmodding vWii, the guides Truth linked to are excellent for just that.

Any time someone says "free games" or "pirated games" I want to shake them so hard. please just say so you can play"backup roms" or just "roms" for that matter, it sounds better. and is less traced. obviously we know what you're doing, but pirating or free games is almost a bad word to me.
that's my rant for the night.
also a tip.

softmodding your wii/vwii is a very tedious task. don't just follow the guides, read it. read it again, download the correct files. read it again. then read each step 5 times before you complete anything, then while you're completing each step, read it again. and understand what you're doing, know what each thing stands for and why, it will help you so much in the end. also don't do anything random at all, if you don't understand something. STOP. ask questions before you proceed at all. people don't seem to get this.

No, it doesn't sound better. When people say "backups" it sounds like they're lying to cover up the fact that they think they're too good to pay for their commercial games like the rest of us. Playing backups means you have the original copy somewhere, or you did but it was destroyed/damaged/lost. Saying you're playing backups when this is not the case is a cowardly lie, so please don't do it.

Next time don't mention this, some members are really not accepting it when people just ask help and state that they want to pirate. :P I am thinking of hacking my Wii mode of my Wii U as well, not sure yet though. :o

Well, somebody backed them up, right? ;) But yes, I know what you mean.

Personally, it doesn't matter to me what people call it. I just read it all as "WANT FREE PIRATE GAMEZ." Something about calling it "jailbreaking" definitely sits weird with me though. Not sure why.

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
