Hacking new3ds CN setup when to tun on WiFi did you catch an update?

well my EU CN finally has arrived
so i am wondering how other N3DS /GW owner have installed the exploit

tell us what steps you followed and in what order to set up WiFi
turn on WiFi
go to CN QR scanner

scan QR

turn off wifi

did anyone catch an update installing CN?


is it safe ? what are the chances of caching an update?

i am nervous about catching an update nag
so no other way to dircectly install the .sav with my old 3ds GW menu sav restore feature?

If it's on for a split second it's not going to download an update. It has to be on for a couple minutes to actually download it.

Why are you worried? You can format sysnand to remove any downloaded updates. Just don't install them if it asks. You have to format sysnand with your microsd removed to unlink your sysnand and emunand anyway so it does't matter.

ok just did it
i powered down right after it installed the sav to CN and it boot to GW menu

turned the console back on
turned off WiFi
then when i went to CN after rebooting and tried running the exploit by going to scan qr in CN the console just froze
after a shut down and reboot it worked
whew i almost panicked there for a min

It's my understanding that the 3DS will only download the update on its own if the console is put into sleep mode with WiFi enabled.

3DS only background downloads in sleep mode, that's correct. Don't stress, there's a key-combo to delete the nag.

Don't you always have to grab it from the eShop?

I never leave Wi-Fi on unless i absolutely need it (because it uses extra power AND i spend half my life traveling between Aus and Thailand on aeroplanes) and besides, the LED to signify the Wi-Fi is so bright when playing in the dark, why leave it on for enough time that it will download an update?

well i installed my CN sav exploit fine on my AU N3DS XL with no update ,no problems
but then i hacked my friends US N3ds Xl US with my US OOT and GW

it worked fine, then i enabled WiFi to update the emunand to 9.5 and it instantly caught an update , through spotpass
what does that even mean? though spotpass? i never use that feature ever did he maybe catch it from my N3ds?but it was in the other room in sleep mode but i turned wireless off
it got the update like instantly after i rebooted it to 9.5 emunand 1st time ,the second i exited out of 9.5 emunand and back to system nand it prompted for a system update on sysnand

ran OOT exploit
backup nand
back up to PC
format emunand
boot to GW mod
turn on WiFi set up wifi password
update emunand to 9.5
system auto reboots to sysnand
prompts for system update upon reboot
no way to avoid it

,on my AU N3DS used CN exploit
turned on WiFi to install GW .sav to CN
turn off WiFi
after many many reboots, finally get into emunand
turn WiFi on and update emunand
no problem ,no update prompt
WTF?
is it because my console is out of region?

also i got some message out a feature not being available because console is out of region, eshop maybe?

but i could still update my emunand from system settings

also i read somewhere that you had to have WiFi enabled to format sysnand
but i did it on his with WiFi off and it worked and didn't prompt for online
